Co-sleeper vs. Bassinet BTDT moms, can you shed some advice?

Im not sure what to do, I will be BF, and wanted the co-sleeper, however, DH has this fear I will roll onto the baby (although Ive explained a ba-gillion times I wouldnt) Since my invites are out...I really need to make a decision already! HELP!!!!
What have you all chosen/plan to choose?

I honestly would be scared about accidentally rolling over. Even if I told myself I wouldn't when you are sleep deprived anything can happen. We opted for a bassinet which will be right by my side of the bed...not too far away.

I didn't have either, actually. My son slept in his crib in his room from the beginning. His room is literally about 4 feet across from ours though, making those nighttime feedings (I BF as well) very easy. I felt like he was safest there, which made me rest easy. Co-sleeping, while recommended in a lot of nursing literature, is really dangerous and the AAP strongly advises against it. HTH!

I have the arms reach co sleeper. It's a 3 sided cosleeper that attaches to the bed

We registered for the Clayton Bassinet by Delta Enterprises. It was the most sturdy.

We use the FP Rock n Play sleeper. Love it.

I thought I read some of the cosleepers were recalled? Chat Icon

Are you talking about the Arms Reach co-sleeper? If so, there is no way you can roll onto the baby -- you can't fit in there I promise!

I've used it twice -- totally safe and very nice to have baby right next to you. It's nice because you can roll the baby right back to bed and makes for easy transitions.

ETA: There was a recall, but as long you are using the co-sleeper according to the directions it is safe. The problem is that when it is used without the liner (which is not how you are supposed to use it) it creates a gap between the mattress and side which can be dangerous. Bottom line: as long as it's used properly it's fine.

Oh yay! Im so glad you posted this. I registered for this and was planning on using this at night for sleep... but recently Ive been thinking about having the baby so much lower than me. I love that its on an incline which will reduce the chance of choking. Do you use it each night and find it to be suffice?

DD is 4 months old now and we still use it every night and the majority of naps (the only exception being that sometimes she naps in her car seat). DH really wants us to transition to the crib soon, but I love her in the rock n play -- love how it's in our room, love how easy it is to rock her if she's uncomfortable even if just for a few minutes, love how we can take it with us so she can easily sleep at a friend's house or our ILs since she's still in "her bed" all the time. I'm going to be so sad when she's not in it anymore! It says it goes to 25 lbs (at 4 months, DD is 13.5 lbs -- 50th percentile) or when the baby starts to lean forward on his/her own.

Oh... and this morning she woke up smiling and so happy and it turns out she had poop leaked allllll over the place (a first for her) so I had to stick the lining in the washing machine and I used some clorox green (the eco-friendly one with nothing harsh in it) to wipe down the inside piece and it was all back in place and dry by the time for her next nap 2 hours later (which, btw, she's sleeping right now lol).

If you want to see pictures, I can FM you... I probably have 4 dozen pictures of her in it. Chat Icon
