I need advice
My Aunt passed away this morning and in my religion pregnant women aren't allowed to go to the cemetery. The problem is I'm only 5 weeks pregnant and no one knows. I'm definitely not going to the cemetery, I had a miscarriage last year and am very superstitious at this point. I have no idea how to get out of going to the cemetery. I haven't even told my parents but I feel that I have to now? I don't think the family is doing anything after and I feel horrible that I can't pay my respects.

Re: I need advice
I'm sorry for your loss :( I would come up with a medical emergency story to save face, but still protect your privacy if you are not ready to come out and tell people. YOu could say something like a stomach virus was going around your job, you have a migraine, etc. That will hopefully get you off the hook without too many questions.

ITA... a white lie in this case is the way to go. And if anyone looks down on you for not going due to whatever medical reason you choose, they'll understand once you're ready to tell everyone your good news.
I'm very sorry for your loss.

Re: I need advice
I don't think I can use the sick excuse. I offered for everyone to come to my house after in hopes that I can skip the cemetery with the excuse that I need to set up. Unfortunately, they didn't bite so now I don't think I can tell them I'm sick. Would it be horrible to say I have an important meeting at work that couldn't be switched?
