Tailbone Pain
Ow! I'm 17 weeks and all of a sudden I am having severe tailbone pain. It actually hurts more than when I first stand up, than when I sit. I googled and it said you could already have an unstable tail bone. That could be true for me, as I have a slight curve in my spine and almost tested positive for scoliosis in middle school. Anyway, there was all this talk about it possibly fracturing during birth and needing a c-section. I just saw the doctor Tuesday and had no pain then, so I didn't mention it. When I go back in June, if it still hurts, I'll let him know. Has anyone experienced this or talked to their doctor about it? TIA

Re: Tailbone Pain
It is actually quite common for the tail bone to fracture during child birth and wouldn't really be a good reason for a c-section. Many of the ligaments in the hips/pelvis with loosen during pregnancy and can cause pain. I had a TON of pain in my pelvis during my previous pregnancies, I found sleeping with a pillow between my legs and under my hips helped. I think it helps support your hips while you are sleeping. Feel better.

Re: Tailbone Pain
OMG I had the exact same thing around the same time...to be exact it was from about 16 weeks to 22. I just assumed there was a nerve being pinched somewhere in there, it went away about 6 weeks ago so hopefully it will for you too!

Re: Tailbone Pain
I'm 16w3d and have been very uncomfortable in the tailbone area for the past couple of days. It's been affecting my sleep, too. I've always had back problems though so it's hard to tell whether it's actually PG related. feel better

Re: Tailbone Pain
Ugh, sorry so many of you can relate, but glad to hear it may go away. I'm actually still down 9 pounds (lost 10 and then gained 1), but I am showing more than I feel I should be, and this pain is causing me to stick out my stomach even more increasing the curve of my back.

Re: Tailbone Pain
I have this sometimes too. It's hard to sleep. I have the body pillow, but I stil can't get comfortable...my bones hurt. I think it's common. Never heard anything about it causing a c-section.

Not that it would cause a c-section, but that if it is severe you may want to opt for a c-section as it could fracture during birth.
