Yes it did, actually.
When a company is successful you give credit to the people/person at the top...you don't say since they didn't make the sale then they don't get the pat on the back.
I loathe former President Bush (both, actually) but I think that we need to give credit where it is due.
It is then the President's job to pass the credit down the line.

I think most of us know it is our military that deserve the credit.
I DO feel he deserves some of the credit. Just as I would if it was any other president. But I feel like some people cant get past their hate. (And this is just MY experience with what I'm reading on FB today)

I also prefer the way Obama handled it. He's not flying on to an aircraft in a thumbs up mission accomplished or climbing on a pile at ground zero.
FB did confirm that some of the people on my friend list are idiots.
I agree with both of you. Including the part about confirming that some of my Facebook friends are idiots. May be time to clean house.

As far as I know Obama IS the commander in chief, isn't he?
Do people really think he had NOTHING to do with this? Did not authorize it?
Bush or any other President does not do their own intel. The argument is so ridiculous! What President has taken a gun and get a terrorist?????
I am baffled by the obvious hate of the President. Damn if you do, damn if you don't.

LUDICROUS to say Bush deserves the credit and Obama does not. I can fully get behind saying it was a long stuggle and both Presidents and their administrations fought the fight, but to say it had nothing to do with Obama is really out there. Of course the counter to this is the old standby argument that this board has a liberal bias. If this is a liberal bias, then I'm sorry but REALITY must have a liberal bias then.

Bush did not get him. PLAIN and SIMPLE! So yes, why does he deserve the credit? I mean Obama has been President for some time now. I don't get how Bush had anything to do with it.

Look, I am not the biggest Obama fan, and in the interest of full disclosure, I voted for McCain.
HOWEVER, Obama deserves the credit same as Bush got the credit for Saddam.
For better or worse, I bet this pretty much sealed Obama's re-election right here. He deserves to be praised for this awesome accomplishment. No, he didn't do it alone, but he is Commander in Chief and had a huge part in all of this.

Yeah, really. I can't comprehend this.
As I said, I can see giving him some credit, saying this battle took a long time. I can support that. But really if George Bush were responsible for it and did everything to make it happen I'm pretty sure it should have happenned then WHILE he was actually commander in chief....

I guess for the same reason that people give credit to Osama Bin Laden for the 9/11 attacks. Osama Bin Laden did not fly those planes into the buildings. But he is the head of the terrorist organization that did. Therefore...credit. I know (and we all know) that the CIA and Navy Seals did the actual intel, raid and assassination but the head honcho gets the credit.

Do you think that this couldn't have happened under any other prez? I am not bashing Obama at all, but in my mind it could have Bush or even Trump for that matter It was just a matter of how long it took the military to find him. KWIM?

Actually, it is just coming out that it was "enhanced interrogation techniques" that gave them the first info in 2007 about the courier that finally led them to this compound. This was "enhanced" interrogation that Obama was against- that occurred in Gitmo- the Gitmo that he wanted closed. So, Bush deserves some of the credit- for fighting for this way of gathering intelligence. It took years more to gather more of the necessary intelligence after 2007. But, Obama deserves credit too- this was a risky operation and he chose to do it instead of dropping bombs.
But, without the intelligence, Obama wouldn't have had this opportunity. So, any president sitting in the Oval office at this time would have had the opportunity to try and get him in the compound. Kudos to Obama for deciding on the operation though.
Obama deserves credit- but IMO he doesn't deserve a second term because of how he ordered one military operation. Personally, I disagree with much of his way of thinking. But the state of the economy I think is what will determine things.
Let's see what happens by 2012- IMO, gas prices, unemployment, inflation will determine the election. I think by November 2012 people will focus more on that rather than Bin Laden's capture.

Many news reports surfaced after 9/11 that suggested Bin Laden fled to Pakistan and the Bush administration had SEVERAL leads which could have yielded better intelligence but the administration either chose to ignore it, or did not feel the information was solid enough to pursue. The news now paints a picture that "the intel was just not good enough"...When in reality, the intel was there but Bush didn't want to act upon it.
When that compound was built in 2005, that should have at least given the US a clue that a high security compound with sky high concrete security walls could house a terrorist at large like Osama, but once again - military action under Bush was minimal in aggressively pursuing that lead..I really would be curious to know if Obama had been elected in 2004, would Bin Laden have been captured/killed earlier? Would the identity of this "trusted courier" be discovered prior to 2007?
Thats the million dollar question - but one thing I definitely noticed during BHO's administration is the sense of urgency/aggressiveness displayed by the military leaders under BHO than under Bush...
I still remember the look on GW Bush's face on 9/11 when his Chief of Staff whispered in his ear that the 2nd tower at WTC was hit and America was under attack. He just sat there staring into space dumbfounded. I will never forget THAT image!
