so, I picked this up @ Lowes because it looked kind of interesting, and the name made me laugh. I pictured a scorned woman who stalked her ex lover and hides in bushes or something. Chat Icon

anyway, I planted it, and now it's ...well, creeping everywhere.

I come to realize it can be quite invasive and near impossible to get rid of.

It's in the early stages of creeping, and I like it, but I don't want it to run over all my other little flowers.

Anyone know?

Re: creeping jenny.

The best thing to do with any creeping plant is to keep it in a pot with NO holes in it...and then plant the full pot in the ground to still make it appear it is in the ground. The roots will not spread, and then you will just need to trim the areas that you don't want it going to. I actaully found out about that idea from a florist...I did it for some of our plants and does wonders! HTH

Re: creeping jenny.

It looks like a type of ivy. I would do what the previous poster said and plant it in a pot that won't let it spread it's roots.

Re: creeping jenny.

I'm not sure but a Google search will tell you if the branches will root to the ground in which case, keeping it in a pot won't help you.

I used the same method to control invasive plants as the PPs said - keeping it in pots. The problem with that sometimes is that they will become root-bound and eventually not look so good. Then you either repot them in a bigger pot or get rid of it.

I had this happen with Artemisia last year and I didn't really like it so I threw it in the compost bin.
