How much are you spending on baby's nursery furniture?
I'm worried that we're spending a bit too much. Our parents are paying for it, so they're going in half.
It would be:
499 (Crib) 799 (dresser) 189 (full bed kit) 99 (toddler rail) 300-400 (rocker... if we include that as part of the "furniture").
It would end up being about $1000 for each of them... is that a lot to ask?
We decided to cut out the hutch. And we're not doing the tall dresser or nightstands.
How much are you spending?

We spent about 2K total. I think it's pretty standard. Furniture is expensive.
My parents paid for everything.

Re: How much are you spending on baby's nursery furniture?
well we didnt get as much as you did our convertible crib was 249 and it included the rail for the toddler bed our dresser/changer was $400 i think.
i chose not to get a glider, we have a love seat that was in the room that we converted to a nursery so im keeping that in there instead to use as somewhere to sit/feed LO. so $650'ish.
ETA: i put my bedding on our registry and it was $99

Re: How much are you spending on baby's nursery furniture?
Everything was less than $1k I believe. I'm not sure - in laws bought most of it and my dad bought the glider. My MIL was a shark with the sales and coupons on the furniture.

We didn't get as much as you, but I think what you spent is pretty standard. I imagine had we needed more we would have spent around the same amount, (we re purposed a dresser, night stand and bookshelf)
crib and mattress: 400, Behr's Murine line Glider: 500, Best Chair

Re: How much are you spending on baby's nursery furniture?
We spent more than we expected too but I really wanted a set that I felt our lil' girl could grow up with. And we figured for baby #2 we'll do the same and et them a set that'll be there's to grow into. We ordered the Sloane collection from Restoration hardware.....and luckily I caught them while they were making price changes when the prices were all wacky on the website and they honored the lower prices! Phew!!
We're paying a 1/3, and both sets of grandparents paying 1/3 each
Convertible crib ($999) Toddler conversion ($119) Full size bed frame ($65) Nightstand ($349) Dresser ($899) Dresser chaning table topper ($149) Bookshelf ($599)

About $4K with delivery et al.: crib, tall dresser, long dresser, changing table kit, mattress and armoire. It was all a gift from my parents. Hubby got me the glider and ottoman and that was $500 (with a coupon!!).

We paid just under $1000 (including tax) for the crib, changer dresser combo, 5 drawer dresser, toddler rail, full bed rail. We bought our furniture at buybuybaby with the coupon printed for each item. We paid for it ourselves.

Re: How much are you spending on baby's nursery furniture?
I got my convertible crib, conversion kit, and dresser/changer from JC Penny for a little over $500. They were already on sale and then I got 25% off on top of that. That included free delivery to store. Bookcase on Ebay $65 and glider we got for free from our neighbor.
And for the low price the crib/dresser was I am very happy with the quality. It is solid wood. Pics of crib/dresser in album.

Re: How much are you spending on baby's nursery furniture?
We spent around 4K. we got convertible crib, dresser, mirror & nightstand. Also spent money on the glider which I ordered a pattern fabric so of course it was more. Both grandmothers chipped in a little towards the set & we paid the rest.

Re: How much are you spending on baby's nursery furniture?
I got my sister's hand me down furniture which is in mint condition. I plan on having it refinished and have new knobs put on the dresser and armoire.
We will def need a glider & otteman, night table and book shelf.
MIL made a very obvious face when I told her I was accepting the hand me down furniture, so now I will allow her to spend the $$$ on the remaining items needed
Just kidding....as a whole, I am assuming we will spend about $500 on what is needed.

Re: How much are you spending on baby's nursery furniture?
Ours isn't that expensive because we live in a 1 br. apt and we need to save space.
Crib ($250)-Gift from my parents.
Dresser/changing table-DH and his dad are taking care of this project. They're planning on getting an unfinished dresser and doing the work themselves. FIL is a carpenter. If this doesn't work out I saw a beautiful one at BRU for about $375.
Cradle-FIL is making this for us. He made one for his family and the four siblings between FIL and MIL.
Rocking chair-Was made by my great-great grandfather and still in excellent condition, so it's getting passed on to me.

Re: How much are you spending on baby's nursery furniture?
IMHO that's a lot for just a dresser, glider, and crib. I know you have conversion stuff but you won't need any of that for at least 18 months. I would add another dresser or changing table instead or the mattress. Then again we went el cheapo and figured we would invest in pieces when she gets older since nursery furniture takes a beating.

Re: How much are you spending on baby's nursery furniture?
It seems like you plan to use this furniture for the long run. I will just say if you are thinking about other pieces, buy them now. We waited for DS and his set was discontinued. What I thought was a huge dresser cannot fit his 6 year old clothes at all.
