am I absolutely crazy?

I'm due July 24th and I just registered to go back to school for the fall semester started the first week of September.

Is that too soon?

My MIL doesn't work and offered to watch the baby during the day while I'm at school & DH works nights so he will also be home during the day.

But am I taking on too much with going back to college and having a newborn?

Need some truthful opinions PLEASE!

Re: am I absolutely crazy?

going back to school is hard no matter what so good for u. My friends in grad school who had babies or kids in general had a harder time, but they were so happy they did it while their kids were young. I say go for it, especially since u have children taken care of

There is never a 100% good time for school, but the truth is we go back because we need to

Goodluck!!

What r u going to study?

Re: am I absolutely crazy?

I'm going back for the fall semester full time as well. Though I will be having my baby in June, and don't have to start until end of August, early September, so my baby will be older.

Some family are supportive and some are thinking that I am taking on too much. In the end, I won't know what the outcome will be unless I try. Is it going to be hard? Hell yeah! Being pregnant and going to school full time while working full time has been HARD. But I am trying to keep my eye on the prize and just push myself as much as I possibly can, and hope that it will be worth it in the end.

Re: am I absolutely crazy?

Are you also working? If so, then yes that sounds like a lot to me. Of course you could do it, but personally I might wait until the baby was a bit older.

If you are not working then I see no problem, imo that would be similar to having an infant and returning to work, kwim??

Good luck Chat Icon

Re: am I absolutely crazy?

how many classes are you taking? how many days will you go to school a week? do you work? part time? full time? are you going to breast feed?

there are other things to factor into this before being able to state if you are crazy or not. haha!

but bottom line, if you think you can do it then go for it. more power to you.

i think going back to school will be hard no matter what. and with a newborn you will def have an added set of challenges. it might be easier if the baby wasn't such a newborn. but again having a 1 year old will have it's own challenges.

good luck!

Re: am I absolutely crazy?

not working. I was actually fired for becomming pregnant a month after I was hired, like it was my fault.

I plan on taking 4 classes
(2 on Mon & Fri and then 2 on Tues & Thurs)

I'll be studying mortuary science.

yes I plan on breast feeding, but I will obviously have pumped bottles ready for when I am at school.

I'm definetly aware it will be hard but think it's worth it and if I don't do it now, I don't think I ever will!

I think you will be able to do it. Chat Icon That's not such a bad schedule at all, especially if you aren't working. I say go for it and do it now!

Be prepared for days where you will want to give up...they will come and go. I can not tell you how many times I have come home from class in the past couple of months and felt utterly & completely defeated. The exhaustion from working and doing school and being pregnant was a lot more than I thought it would be...but I'm happy to say that I have just a couple weeks left of the spring semester.

I know it will be even more difficult next semester with a newborn, but I just think it's best to get as much of this done as I can when the baby is so little and doesn't quite understand what's going...and before we consider having #2 in a few years.

GOOD LUCK!

what a crappy thing to get fired for! that's insane. but sometimes things work out for the best.

your schedule doesn't seem too bad. you should be able to do it.

i was asking about the breastfeeding more for the having to pump while in class part. I was picturing being in class and having to leave to pump and come back. haha.

But i totally think you can do it. You never know until you try... and it's def worth a try. Esp if you have family help.

Re: am I absolutely crazy?

I am due end of July also and I will be going back to school in September. Its only one class for me so its alot easier. I have been in grad school since my DD was a baby and it is key to kind of treat it like a job, get good childcare for your LO (sounds like you have that sorted out) and have your DH help with as much as he possibly can. Good luck!

Re: am I absolutely crazy?

I am due in December. I am finishing my last 2 classes for my program b/f the baby is born but I will have to go back in the Spring semester to study for my Comp test, while working full time.

Its difficult but like others have said, better to do it now. I'm sure you will do fine, seems like you have a ton of support around you. Just remember to ask for help when you need it.

Good Luck!
