Question - bedrest girls past and present, come on in! UPDATE at bottom!

I have my almost 36w appt tomorrow. As some (most?) of you know, I've been on bedrest since 31w3d due to a short cervix. All the bedrest has worked and I am still pregnant after about a month of being home. Hooray!

The goal was to get to me and baby girl to 36w, which we've pretty much done!

... do you think there is any way I'll be taken off of bedrest? Is that possible - to be taken off of bedrest toward the end of pregnancy because of short cervix issues?

I'm of course going to ask tomorrow, and I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but I'm so frickin sick of being home and I would love to get out of here and be back out in the world! I would love to go to stores and buy things for DD instead of asking DH to do every little thing.

Either way - keep your fingers crossed for a good appt for me tomorrow! Chat Icon

They might tell you that you can increase your activites slightly. Or they might tell you for every 2 hours you're up rest for another 2 after. Something along the lines of that. I remember the feeling of just wanting so badly to do stuff so I know how you feel. Good luck!

I know my high risk dr was going to gradually let me off bedrest around 34-35 weeks. However I wound up having them at 34 weeks due to pre eclampsia.

Fingers crossed for you. I know how much bed rest stinks!

I've also been on bedrest since 32 weeks. I am 36w5d today and am seeing my doc in a couple of hours. I am not sure about lifting any restrictions, but I have to say that I would LOVE for my twins to come sooner than later (being as healthy as possible, of course). I hope we are both done with bedrest and home with our new babies before we know it! Hang in there! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Question - bedrest girls past and present, come on in!

i had a friend who went into early labor at 30w, was in the hospital for 4 weeks and then on strict bedrest at home for 3w, her doctor told her she could resume some normal activities (she was able to leave the house) as of 37w.

So if she is any indication - i'd assume that once you reach a certain point they ease up a bit on the restrictions

It's definitely possible! I had a friend who was on bedrest from like 22 weeks on (cervix issues too) and then once the baby was considered full term, she was allowed to get back to her normal routine (in moderation of course though!)

Good luck!

Its def a possibility. They may give you a restricted bedrest and allow you a certain #of hrs up and out you've made it to a safe point that if she came now she would be healthy. I was on bedrest for 13.5 weeks and at 35 weeks they increased my activity allotment. good luck and great job!!!
