Cough/congestion
5 month old w cough and congestion. Slight temp 100.3 what can I do for him? Can I use Vicks vapor rub? Poor baby! He is still happy and smiling tho

Vicks makes a BABY rub you can use. I wouldnt use the real adult stuff. The baby stuff is good for 3m +
saline drops for post nasal drip
Cool air humidifier
elevate (incline) the baby
At 5m I think that's about it that I can remember.

I don't know if I'd use the vapor rub that early on, I remember reading somewhere that you shouldn't...at that age sitting in the steam, humidifer and nose suction with saline works best!!

yes the BABY rub is found at all the stores.. CVS, Target etc. But be sure its the BABY version not the full blown Vicks rub.. as the PP said that is not recommened. However the baby rub is basically chamoile (sp) and lavender.

you can kinda read on the left it says 3m and older. I was never told to use vasoline first. AJ was around 5m when I found this little gem and I've sworn by it ever since. Call the ped office real quick if you want their take. You can't do much for them under 6m every little bit helps. I couldn't have survived without it!

if u use the vicks rub i would put vaseline on the skin first and the vicks over it. My ped doesn't recommend using it under 6 months but when we had to use it on my 4 month old she said to put the vaseline on first to protect her skin.
