Planning a Christening

Anyone planning their christening before the baby is born?
Even if not, if you’ve given thought to it…will you be doing just close family or family and friends?

ETA: the church doesnt mind booking before the baby is born?

Re: Planning a Christening

I have not started planning this baby's christening and with my DD, I also planned it after she was born. I think we are only going to have close family at it though. same as with DDs. Maybe 30-35 people.

Re: Planning a Christening

Have not started planning DD's yet. I will when she is born, but for DS we had close to 100 people. This time we are trying to cut it down a bit.

I started today. I want everything squared away before LO comes. Less for me to think about. I wanted to do something small and intimate with immediate family only but that's over 90 people. I'm not a happy camper right now.

Family and some close friends. I have a big family, so I'm sure the numbers will add up! Not thinking about it yet though.

Re: Planning a Christening

We have not started to plan the Christening yet, or really even talk about it, but we will probably invite family and close friends which would make the guest list about 100 people.

Re: Planning a Christening

I started thinking about it. Both DS's were about 40 people or so. I def started looking for dresses though! DS's wore the same one and now I get to buy a new dress!

We did it @ an American Legion so it wasn't $20k .....but yeah, it's a lot of people.

Re: Planning a Christening

I plan on starting before. I have to take a class at the church, so I'd rather do that now than when the baby is here. I want to keep it small. My cousins and aunts and uncles and most of my closest friends don't live on LI, and there aren't many hotels where I live, plus we are planning for February before Lent when weather can be bad. All in all, I think it will be a small event.

We've been planning. We're either just having our parents, siblings and grandparents or doing something a little larger in my IL's backyard (about 65 people).
