Bummed .....

about movement feelings....

I'm 28 weeks tomorrow... and because of my placenta being in a wonky spot, I cannot feel.... well really anything. When and If I do feel something, it's like a small gas bubble or a tiny movement deep inside.

Up until 2 weeks ago I was getting some good movements going on... my stomach even moved with some kicks! You were able to feel them from the outside and all. Then all of a sudden it all diminished.

Now, I'm lucky if I get 3 gas bubble movements a day. It freaks me out. It really makes me worry. If something was wrong... I would really have no way of knowing it.

Last week the dr office sent me to L&D for monitoring. The HB was fine and they saw the wonky placenta, which is basically blocking the movements. But they also told me to come back if I don't feel any movements for a day. I'd be there practically everyday.

I have 3 heart monitors and I try not to use them daily... but on days I'm feeling more bummed than others... I do use it. I can hear a heartbeat and sometimes I even have to "chase the heartbeat" around (so I know she is moving). It's the only thing that gives me any comfort.

I can't remember the last time I felt a good kick or movement.

I think what's also slightly freaking me out more is my niece's story. Right around her due date, my SIL felt a major decrease in movement. She went straight to the hospital and they refused to check her out. She was also a high risk patient, so I don't understand it. They sent her home. She KNOWS something is wrong due to the movement issues and so she comes back the next day and DEMANDS they check her. They find out there was a blood clot in the placenta, blocking oxygen to her DD. They ended up doing an emergency C section in less than 5 minutes. Baby comes out having seizures and all. Had they done this check the day before, her status wouldn't have been nearly as bad. Oxygen was blocked from her brain for 2 days! She was something like 97% brain dead when she was born because of this. She was then diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy because of it. They had her in therapy VERY early on. And she's now doing amazing!! She was the flower girl at my wedding. And she's just such an amazing little girl. She was even kicked out of special school because she was surpassed everyone.
But the fact that her mother was able to tell something was wrong based on movements just freaks me out right now.

I sorry. This is long and sappy. And wah wah wah. I don't mean to me that way. I just feel so down because of this sometimes.

Re: Bummed .....

just hang tight...i wasnt feeling much at that point either due to placenta placement and worried on an almost hourly basis but now at 35w she is big and strong and i am feeling her kick me in the ribs so if your LO is anything like mine she'll make up for you not feeling her as much now in the later weeks.

How often do you see your doctor?

I have an anterior placenta, as well. I feel the little movements, but it feels better knowing that I see my perinatologist every 2 weeks and my OB every 4.

That's probably what adds to the anxiety of it.
I see the dr about every 4 weeks. My next appt is May 5th.... the last appt was April 7th. The time between appts gets to me sometimes. I was doing really well when I was feeling her move; it was good reassurance for me. But now that it's like being back to the beginning of pregnancy...

I do though have a 3d appt scheduled for April 27th.... I can't wait!!!!
