Little depressed after doctor appointment (long)
I had an appointment tonight and now I'm a little depressed. Thankfully, seems to be doing just fine.
But (and this is a little TMI) I had some VERY light pink in my discharge earlier today. It's happened a couple of times, but when I was in L&D at 17 weeks they told me to call the doc if it was bright red and covered a pad, so I didn't think anything of these little light pink spots. But since I was there, I figured I'd mention it. Right away he hands me a gown and says he has to check my cervix. It's measuring 3.15, which is within normal limits, but he's concerned it's getting too close to being short. I have to take it easy, but I'm not sure how much easier I can take it. I go to work (sit all day) and then come home and either lay on the couch or sit at the computer. I don't even clean anymore - DH does everything (doctor's orders ). Now I have to be monitored more closely.
And then we talked about my delivery. Because of my back issues I'm looking at being put under general anesthesia for the c-section. We're team and were really hoping to be able to find out the sex at the time of delivery, but it looks like we wouldn't be able to find out together that day. So now we're going to HAVE to find out sooner if we want to find out together, and then think of a creative way to tell everyone so we still get a special moment out of it like we've wanted all along.
I just feel like everytime we go to the doctor it's something new. Last time I was at the high risk doctor she sent us for a fetal echo and we found out the baby might have a hole in his/her heart. We go back in 2 weeks to find out. I have 1-2 doctor appointments a week over the next couple of weeks. I'm scared I'm going to be put on bedrest. I was hoping not to put the nursery together until at least May, but now I feel like we need to do that soon. I'm scared I'll be put on bedrest before my shower on May 15th. My poor sister has been working so hard on it and is so excited. And the lease is up on my truck one month before the baby is due. Now I feel like I need to rush out and test drive the vehicles I like so I can be prepared to negotiate from bed (DH is horrible at negotiating).
Sorry for venting and babbling. I just can't complain to people IRL because I always hear "we told you to take it easy and you didn't want to listen" blah blah blah when no one knows what I do on a daily basis. I just wish the rest of this pregnancy would be uneventful.

Re: Little depressed after doctor appointment (long)
I feel your pain. My pregnancy was very busy being uneventful. I was constantly being monitored or checked out for something. It's frustrating and really takes away from the gift of growing a little miracle.
Try to take a deep breath, and just go one day at a time. Follow doctors orders and I am sure all will end fine.
(BTW - I had a similar issue with the Fetal Echo, after 3 of them - the last one at Schneider's Children's hospital - we were told both girls were had perfect hearts).

Re: Little depressed after doctor appointment (long)
I am sorry you are going thru this I know what its like to feel like you live at the doctors and are constantly bombarded with bad news . B C-section, bedrest, yes it ALL DOES suck majorly. But try to think Big picture, BABY, healthy BABY that is all that matters in the end. When it rains it pours, but it WILL get easier and you will get thru this.
As for the sex. Someone here recently posted a video of a cake, gender reveal party and it looked FANTASTIC and sooooooo emotional. You get the doctor to write the sex of the baby down, and give it to the baker (no peeking!) to fill the cake with either pink or blue icing, then invite family/friends over and cut into the cake. I didn't even know this family and was on the edge of my seat Don't forget to video tape it and post it here !!!

I am so sorry that people aren't being more supportive. Hopefully you know that nothing you did could have caused a possible hole in the baby's heart.
I hope all of your Dr's appointments go very well over the next few weeks. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Re: Little depressed after doctor appointment (long)
Thanks girls. It just seems to be one thing after the next. This morning something hit my windshield and cracked it in 2 places. I JUST had it replaced at the beginning of February. I keep reminding myself things could be worse.

I am sorry you are going through all of this. Someone on here posted about a gender reveal party where they brought a slip of paper to the bakery and had them make a cake with either blue or pink on the inside. Then with everyone around, they cut the cake. It made me sooo emotional, and I don't even know them. I think this was an AWESOME way to find out, and to include the whole family
