Do squirrels/chipmunks mess up flowers and plants?

Now that the snow is gone-- I see throughout the property-- little areas that look dug up. I can only assume it;s the little guys doing it and I caught one in the act. I didn't notice the little tufts of dirt when we moved is-- so maybe it's just time of year? Waiting to see some plants/flowers sprout!!

We've seen more squirrels than chipmunks but it does happen!

Squirrels will do this, they store nuts I believe and dig them up. Alot of times I see them do this in my grass.

Yes.

They dig things up and they eat things - anything I place on the left side of my stoop gets eaten by this one particular squirrel - he ate my mums one fall and my pumpkins the following fall.

Squirrels do a LOT of damage by me, I planted tulips the first year we moved in, I even put chicken wire over the ground, sprayed with this environmental natural spray to deter squirrels & rabbits (we have a lot of these too) and I'd find them running all over the place with a bulb in there mouth . They really wrecked havoc, they even eat any pumpkins/gourd I put out in the fall! I've given up on planting tulips, the only thing they leave alone are daffodils

Yep, damn squirrels! They dug holes in my garden all last yr! My neighbor actually traps them and drops em off somewhere miles away.... I got annoyed when I heard he did this and it still bugs me a little, but I love my garden more than the squrrels!
