Does everyones belly "drop"?
Im 35 weeks and my belly is still extremely high (so high I get short of breath a lot). Today at work people were commenting how my belly should have started dropping already. They implied that I could end up having a c-section if he doesnt drop soon. (And then one woman said that she got stretch marks as soon as her belly dropped - i didnt know these things were related!)
Does everyones belly drop? If so, when? And does your belly dropping have anything to do with stretch marks?

Re: Does everyones belly "drop"?
I've been carrying "low" according to everyone my entire pregnancy, but have noticed that I have dropped significantly in the past few days. I'm currently 36 weeks and from what I understand you should drop as a result of the baby getting into position in the birth canal. ( lightening) ask your dr at your next appointment what their thoughts are.

Re: Does everyones belly "drop"?
I carried high my whole pregnancy and never really dropped. I never went into labor but did have a successful induction.

Re: Does everyones belly "drop"?
Ignore anyone that says a dumb comment like "you are carrying high and are going to wind up with a c-section"
I can't stand how people assume they are doctors because they have either been pregnant or know someone else who was pregnant and wound up in that situation.
Don't worry about it.
I think I carried pretty high with DS until around 37 weeks. Then the pressure in my pelvis really increased and everyone started to say I looked like I was carrying lower.

Re: Does everyones belly "drop"?
I carried very low with DD and i knew exactly when she dropped, 37 weeks because it got insanely uncomfortable, my poor bladder was just squished and had trouble walking, i went into labor a week later.

Re: Does everyones belly "drop"?
I carried high when I was pregnant with DS. My stomach never got low. Even while I was pushing I remember my doc pushing on the top of my stomach to move him down. I'm almost 38 pregnant right now and carrying exactly the same. I feel this baby in my throat .

Ignore them! I carried high my entire pregnancy, I went over a week early and had a vaginal delivery.

Re: Does everyones belly "drop"?
I am over 37w and still high - but the baby is in position and my Dr is not worried. Women at work tell me they dropped like the night before they went into labor

Everyone carries different. I carried high my entire pregnancy and didn't drop until a few days before I gave birth, at 40w.

Re: Does everyones belly "drop"?
Please do NOT listen to anyone who says carrying high at 35 weeks means you're more likely to have a C-section. Yes, many first time moms drop around 37 weeks, but not everyone. It means nothing.
My first was high the whole time. He never dropped. I had a successful, drug-free vaginal birth.
You can try doing some squats to open up the pelvis and encourage your little one down, but don't stress! Do you have a birth ball. Try sitting on that.
