What to give a 5 yr old with a sore throat?

I've been up all night with my 5 yr old who's been screaming his throat hurts. He is the worst patient though. He won't gargle, won't drink water with lemon/honey and just keeps screaming his neck/throat hurt. Are there any sprays or throat drops or something I could try to give him until we see the doctor?

I'd be hesitant to go with the spray (Chloraseptic)? I don't know if that's approved for young kids?? What about an ice pop?? It's one way to keep him hydrated and the cold will feel good on his throat?

Children's motrin ? Should help with the pain.

My ped always says Children's Motrin. I wouldn't use throat sprays on a kid. It could numb the throat. I would worry about choking.

Ice pop or anything like ices will numb the throat

Thanks, I had some ice pops in the freezer coincidently the other two have a sore throat now too

honey will help and also litte remedies make lollipops for sore throats they sell them at babies r us
