Inquiring...please give me your insite...

Hi girls,
so i had to go for genetic testing due to a m/c in dec. i tested positive for the MTHFR gene - C677t. Can you girls tell me if you have this and are pregnant? and how are they treating you for it? or if you know anyone who has this and had successful pregnancies?

thanks girls...im just really nervous!
xoxo

I DO NOT have this - but i think if you have two copies you will have to take Lovenox & possibly something for teh rest of your life. If this is the case so many people ar eon Lovenox & have children perfectly healthy. Good luck. Definitely talk throughly with your Dr.

My doc said I have a very mild MTHFR gene mutation. I am on baby aspirin daily for it and 21 weeks PG. I have heard of women taking Lovenox injections for it as well. I don't know who your doctor is, but Dr. Braverman specializes in recurrent miscarriages and treats several women on here TTC with genetic issues. Def check out the infertility board for more info on him and more help with the MTHFR mutation.

Good luck!

i dont have that mutation but i have other blood clotting issues. you can def get pregnant and have a successful pregnancy with these issues. normal treatment includes baby aspirin and/or lovenox. ive been on both my entire pregnancy (24w) - you get used to it. you just do what you have to do to get and stay pregnant!!
good luck!!

I have the MTHFR gene as well as 2 other clotting disorders and I just had healthy twins! I had to take baby asprin and Lovenox throughout my pregnancy. I am not sure if you would have to take lovenox with only the MTHFR gene. My high risk dr was dr kofinas and he was amazing (he was the one who treated my clotting disorders)

hang in there! Chat Icon Chat Icon

just read your last post....dr kofinas has an office in brooklyn. I don't have the number on me right now but if you google kofinas perinatal you will find it.

I have the same exact thing. I had to go on baby aspirin and need to take it for the rest of my life. They also said I could take a vitamin that has extra folic acid and vitamin B. I would do this on and off.

I am currently 14 weeks pregnant and everything is looking good. I was sooo scared because I had two miscarriages. My dr switched me from baby aspirin to Lovenox while pregnant. It's an injectable. I was terrified of this, but it's not that bad. My husband gives me the shot every day. It stings a little, but as long as I ice it up, it's not bad at all.

Best of luck!!!! Any questions, FM me.

I also have the same MTHFR gene - C677t.

Since I didn't know I had it until after I found out I was pregnant, I don't know if what they would have done prior to me being pregnant.

They do have me taking a FABB tablet twice a day (there is another one just like it, but I can't remember the name of it). All it is is a combination of vitamins providing vitamin B-6, vitamin B-12 and folic acid to people who do not have enough of these vitamins for good health.
