I need your natural childbirth resources!

I had two great births using Hypnobabies and am now in the process of becoming a certified teacher. As part of that process I am putting together a list of natural childbirth friendly OBs, hospitals, midwives, doulas and lactation consultants. Does anyone know of anybody that they just love and I should include?

I'm a first timer so I really don't have anyone to recommend but I just wanted to say how happy I am to see this post! Maybe I'm not looking in the right places, but this area seems to be very behind in natural childbirth! In other parts of the Country it seems to be much more mainstream, hospitals have tubs to labor in, birth centers are available. I find myself in the minority for wanting natural child birth. I'm not sure if it's just who I happen to talk to though, I could be wrong. Good luck with your research though!

Thanks Sparrow! I know what you mean, the general trend on Long Island is definately not supportive of natural childbirth. I've been on these boards for years and there are natural childbirth mamas on here, though. Just so you know, I had 2 natural childbirths (one was virtually pain-free) - you can do it. Really, the most important thing is to prepare and find a caregiver who really supports it.

I was going to recommend the SB midwives, but than I read your birth story (great story btw!! ) and realized you used them too. I too have a drug free, great birth experience with them and hope to do it again this time around.

Bella311 -- I totally agree about Stony Brook midwives, they are fantastic!
