Let's Talk Bakeries
I'm in full planning mode for DS' 1st birthday and I still need to order a cake. The party is 4/23 in Rocky Point.
The last two special occasions we used Benkert's in Centereach. However both times they messed up the order.
1 - Baby Shower - The cake was supposed to be ready for 10am pick up. They hadn't even made it yet and DH waited until they got it done since my shower was at 12pm.
2 - DS Baptism - They had the cake ready on time this time, but luckily SIL asked to see the cake and instead of saying "God Bless Albert Joseph" it said "Happy Birthday Albert Joseph".
Their cakes tasted good..really good but I don't want to worry about whether they'll get it right or not. Would you give Benkert's one more shot?
Have any of you ladies heard of or tried any of the following Bakeries:
The Rolling Pin Via Dolce La Bonne Buolangerie (sp?) Create-A-Cake
Please let me know what you thought. If you have any other suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it.

Re: Let's Talk Bakeries
I love the Rolling Pin, and there's another really good one in Smithtown next to Uncle Giuseppe's...I am drawing a blank on the name.. .
ETA: I never had a decorated cake from Rolling Pin, so don't blame me if they mess up the spelling or something!

Re: Let's Talk Bakeries
I love Rolling Pin. They did our wedding cake and it was delicious.
My sister frequents a bakery in Rocky Point (she lives in Sound Beach) but I can't remember the name. I will see if I can get it from her. (Tilly's maybe?)
ETA: My family has gotten cakes from Create A Cake and Alpine in Smithtown. For the most part they have been very good (had one had experience with Alpine)

Re: Let's Talk Bakeries
Oh no! I ordered a cake for DD's 1st Birthday from Benkert's!
I have gotten cakes there before but never a custom cake. I ordered with the owner, so hopefully it turns out ok.

I'm sure it will turn out fine. Unfortuantely that's just been our expereince, but you'll always find mixed reviews here. I'm just not sure I'm willing to give them a 3rd chance. Their cakes are really good though!

I bet it is Tilda's in Rocky Point, they are fantastic and who I thought of immediately when I read the post. I've used Benkerts before and had a great experience with them too.

Re: Let's Talk Bakeries
We used a cake lady based out of Farmingdale and the cake was great (taste wise and decoration wise). She did exactly what we asked. (pics in my DS' party post). LMK if you want her info. A few people on here have used her before and been very happy.
