If anyone has been to Woodloch Pines...
Is the exorbitant amount of money worth it? IS it really great for kids? Is the "basic" room completely tiny? TIA.

I personally have never been but I know of 3 different families that are completely obsessed with the place and go every year. They all have count downs to go, they plan for the scavenger hunt, they plan to meet with the same families every year...it almost sounds a little cultish but in a fun way. Once I have kids I plan on checking it out. It sounds like a great getaway. Plus I hear the spa is world class.

My family has been going every year for the last 15 years now. I was a little older when we started going and I don't have kids so I can't speak to that aspect with much authority, but there are TONS of activities (swimming, games, shows, compititions, skating, snow-tubing, etc). The place is friggin immaculate (and I'm the biggest critic ever when it comes to cleanliness) and the food is homey, but really good. Any room I've ever stayed in has been more than fine.
ETA - There is a spa as well, but that's not on Woodloch proper. It's about 5 minutes away and is considered seperate in terms of ammenities, but the shuttle can bring you there.

LOVE Woodloch!!!! My family went for 10+ years (with a bunch of other families/friends) when my brother and I were growing up and it will always be some of my BEST summer vacation memories!
We are now counting down the days until or DC's are old enough so that we can pick up the tradition again and go back with them! I dont think anyone can fully understand what its like unless you experience it!!

I've heard it's a lot of fun. Many people who have gone as a single family have said next time they are going to go with more extended family and/or friends bc it was even more fun in large groups. I also heard the food is delish.

It is an obsession. I have been over 30 times. You have to drink the Kool-Aid or it won't be worth it. But if you do, it rivals Disney.

DH and his extended family went a few times when the kids were pre-teen/teens.
His mom is so excited to go back w/my not yet born kid that we'll be going when the kid is 2 months old  DH is crazy excited too. I"m interested to see what this place is all about - it sure sounds great!!
