Did you watch Oprah? I actually found him more like-able and real. I thought he was pretty funny too. I wasn't his biggest fan but I think he did the best job he could do. From the interview, I found him to be a bad ***, in a good way. I actually want to read his book now.

I have to say I did not like him as a president, BUT I think he's a real person and saw his interview with Matt Lauer and respect that he stands by all his decisions and don't find him to be an idiot at all actually. Is he the most articulate person, no, but then again Obama is insanely articulate and I don't find him to be doing much of a better job than Bush did, but not going to start a political debate...I think he's a "real" person and like that aspect of him

I love Bush.
I don't agree with him on everything.
But I liked him as a President and he seems like a really straight-forward person.
He never pretended to be anything more than he was. I love that he can laugh at himself for flubbing all over words sometimes.
Not being the best public speaker doesn't make you a bad president any more than being a great public speaker makes you a great president.
Just ask Obama

watch Oprah behind the scenes after she read the book she totally did an about face on what she thought of him.
Those who hate him maybe should read his book. Just a thought.

LOVE HIM and loved his book. It was a great read. I agree with Mrs. Pork Chop and I have a lot of respect for him and not only do I want to hug him, I want to hang out with him !!

I didn't see the Oprah interview but I did see the interview with Matt Lauer and I loved Bush's response when he was asked to comment on the current administration. I respected the fact that he wouldn't throw anyone under the bus just because he could.

I honestly think it comes down to he's no longer the president, and therefore, more likable.
Had such interviews been conducted while in office, he would have been ripped to shreds (and he generally was, whenever he seemed to open his mouth).
It's easy to sit down with a man and find him easygoing when he's not in power. Your perspective of him changes.
Is he kinda likable? Sure. But we were all mislead as a country, and while he, Rice and Rumsfeld all say that they were mislead also by intelligence reports, you can't go back in time and change anything.

I saw that as well and was pleasantly surprised. I still did not and would not vote for him though.

I will say that I went to a speech by Ari Fleischer (his press secretary) and he was saying how charismatic and a wonderful speaker he was when you talked to him one on one...
and as soon as he stepped onto that podium it was like he forgot how to speak.

All of those who are saying you might read his book, are thinking about reading it, might buy it, etc - DO IT. I bought it the moment I could and have read it TWICE I enjoyed it so much. I knew the real President Bush for years - and know a lot about his family - so, I always knew the way he was, which is exactly how he came across in the interview - the way he has always been - and I'm happy that now people, in general, are seeing it. He is a good man, he really is, whether you agree with his views or not. But, definitely, read the book!!!!! It is beyond fantastic and SO interesting whether you like him personally or not - especially about 9/11 and the real inner-workings of the White House and how much freaking work it is to BE a President - he is so driven, it's NUTS. I was exhausted just reading it. Then, after you read his book - check out Laura's. Because that was UNBELIEVABLE too.
I was so struck by these two books I wrote him a hand-written very nice and long letter about how much I adore him, his family, the books, Laura, etc. - and he sent me a card back! I was touched. I wrote him on very nice stationary - I thought that would make an 'impression' - well, his stationary made mine look like a cocktail napkin

I saw this episode when it initially aired.
I always liked him. I think the interview with Oprah was great- she did ask him tough questions and he answered them very well. I was afraid to watch this. I didn't know how the whole thing would pan out...
His true self shined through. I wished he was like this during his Presidency. But it was hard. The media has a tendency to do that, you know?????
Now, with all that has been said, I love the fact that gas prices are at an ALL time high and no one blames Obama.
Remember? People were quick to blame Bush for everything... It's amazing how people forget.

Was this the repeat episode?
It just seemed like a promotion for his book. I couldn't really get into it. Maybe it made him seem likable, but to be honest, I am just not a fan of him or his time in office. His book isn't going to change my mind, IMO. Sorry.
