Which did you register for and what was the deciding factor. I can't make up my mind when it comes to this. I know that the regular Snugride will be the lightest but holds the least weight but do I really need the 30 or 35? Ahhh so confusing lol.

Re: Regular Snugride, 30 or 35

I got the snugride 32 in 2009, not sure if they make it anymore. I don't think it was necessary because my girls were never close to weighing 32 lbs in the year they were in there.

I did the 30, I figured that by the time the baby is 30lbs I don't think I'll want to carry the baby around in the infant carrier. It's 30lbs of baby + a 20 lb car seat, heavy! I imagine once I get to around 20 or so lbs I'll use the convertible car seat (rear facing).

Re: Regular Snugride, 30 or 35

For DS we got the Snugride 32 and let me tell you it is HEAVY. DS is 14 months and 22 lbs and there is no way I could lift him in that.

I would go with the regular one. The carrier is the lightest and you'll be fine with whatever the weigh limit is.

After reading a ton of reviews and talking to friends, we got the regular Snugride, which holds up to 22. No one I talked to had their child in the infant seat over that weight. The seat is much lighter than the 30/32/35 lb ones (and cheaper as well!)

Re: Regular Snugride, 30 or 35

I bought the Snugride 35. Since it is recommended for kids to be rear-facing as long as possible...that is why I went with that one.

When my DD was born (years ago), we had her in her infant seat until she was 16 months (rear-facing). When it got to the point that the seat was too heavy for us to carry...we used to just leave the seat in the car and take my DD out. I am not sure why everyone thinks you have to carry kids in them forever....Chat Icon

Re: Regular Snugride, 30 or 35

I have the regular one -
I LOVED it and was NOT happy when I had to give it up - but to be honest with you, I don't think I would have used it up until he was 32 or 35 lbs (At almost 2 years old he's only 27 lbs) and carrying HIM alone can get heavy - after they get to about 15 - 20 lbs it isn't so easy to carry them around in that thing anymore !!

Re: Regular Snugride, 30 or 35

I have the one that goes up to 22 lbs. So far after 8 weeks, DD really dislikes being in it. She just seems uncomfortable in it and hates being strapped in. I'm glad I just have the smallest one so I can switch to the convertible rear-facer And DD is SMALL! She's just 10 lbs now at 8 weeks old. I plan to switch her at a year to the convertible, but keep her rear facing.

My nephew was just 36 lbs at 3 years old. You'd never need an infant seat to go that heavy IMO.

i would not go above 30 but i would also compare what you will use it for'

my littl guy was stocky and short he out grew weight at 9 months - i missed the seat since he fell asleep on the way to daycare and i had to wake him when i got himout of the convertible - so i would say the 30 would have been better then the 22 but he is more comfortable and he could sit up hiigher in the convertible - so it is a toss up

i had no problem carrying the snug ride 222 with a 22 lb baby

i know when i was looking the chicco 30 was a little lighter to start then the snug ride 30 - both rated highly for safety

Agreed! That's what we have-I gotta tell you, even the lightest one is still heavy and huge when you're carrying the baby in it.

35 - BBB didn't have the 32.
I have looked into changing it but I really like the pattern and of course it isn't available in any other one.

i think that's so true! if it gets too heavy, i think we'll just leave the seat in the car and carry her in and out. and if she's that heavy at the point, im sure we wont be needing the infant seat for the stroller either.

Thanks for all of your posts. I think I am going to go with the regular. I am not that strong so I guess the lighter the better for me.

Re: Regular Snugride, 30 or 35

You will not be using that carseat when the baby is anywhere near 30lbs. My DS just turned 2 and is only 27lbs. I stopped using my snugride when DS was around 12months.

Check height limits.

The 32, and the 35 both have a 32 inch height limit. That would be my reason for getting the bigger one. DS outgrew the 35 in height early.

The 35 is barely heavier than the 32 if at all.

Not too familiar with the 30, if it has a 32 inch height limit, i would go with that one, if has a 30 inch height limit, I would go with the 32.

Re: Regular Snugride, 30 or 35

It's so hard to know ahead of time...
My DD was 22 lbs at 6 mos! I got the smallest Snugride but live in a condo so I LOVED using the snap and go to go from my apt down the elevator to my garage every day...so the thought of not having the ease of the snap and go at only 6 mos old was upsetting to me. Luckily a friend lent me her Snugride 35 but it was SO heavy...for me i literally only lifted it when taking DD in and out of the car...I didn't have to carry her into the house - I used the snap and go up the elevator. But after a sore arm a month after switching to the Snugride 35....we made the switch to the convertible carseat when DD was 7 mos old.
I think it all depends on your situation...for me I wish I still was using the infant seat and DD is 8.5 mos...but if I lived in a house I'd be fine with her being in the convertible. It all depends on how big your baby will be which you obviously don't know ahead of time.

We had the regular one (22) upon advice of friends.

When DS was around 15 lbs, we stopped carrying it and left it in the car most times.

I miss it terribly and wish I had a bigger one - it was just so easy to have a base installed in all of our cars as opposed to convertibles - and to carry DS in it if he fell asleep!

I have no idea why anyone would get anything but the regular. DS is 17lbs and I cant hold that seat anymore i can not imagine trying to lug around a baby 30lbs

Just so you know...some babies don't reach 30 lbs until they are much older. My DD didn't reach 30 lbs until she was about 4.

And I know for myself, when the seat got too heavy, we left it in the car and just took the baby out.

We went with the 30

Mainly because we liked the design of the one we picked, and it snaps perfectly into a lightweight stroller that is sold separately.

I got the 30 because everyone I asked said the baby will be out of the snugride before they even reach that weight Chat Icon
