when did you think you would have your first kid? did that happen?

A friend of mine asked me if fit in with our "plan" and it made me think. I'll be honest. Kids weren't really on my mind for a long time and because we started dating in our teens, I never really thought about or had a "life plan."

We go married in our mid 20s and I remember saying we'd probably wait 4-5 years before having kids. Over time that creeped up and more recently we decided we wanted kids after 3-4 years of marriage, not 4-5. We expected TTC would be a long road and were shocked when I got my BFP so quickly and now is due just after our 3 year wedding anniversary. If it took longer we would have been OK with that too, but I guess it does fit in with our revised "plan"

The friend that asked about my plan has pretty rigid plans of her own - she wants to have in a particular season of a particular year, by a particular age, and after hitting particular milestones. I DID NOT want to get pregnant before we were ready, and we were exceptionally careful not to have an oops, but I feel like this site opened my eyes to the fact that you can't really control when you do get pregnant. It's hard because you have to be ready for it to happen right away or for it to take a long time.

Did you have a plan? did it change? Did align with that plan?

I always said that I wanted to have my first DC before I turned 30 and I will be 29 when I deliver.

DH and I planned before we got married that we would start talking about TTC a year after we were married. Well we decided to talk about it and try months before our 1 year anniversary and nothing happened. Around the 1 year mark I got pregnant.

So I guess you can say it went pretty much as planned.

DH wasnt sure if he wanted kids at all.

I always wanted my first by the age of 26 but we dated longer than I thought we would and got married when I was 26.

I then wanted them after a year of marriage. (6 years together).

DH is 30
I am 28

I finally got him on board with this right around our 2 year wedding anniversary.

is due days after our 3rd wedding anniversary.

DH will be 31
I will be 29

lol i wanted to be married by 25, kid before 30. got married at 30, kid will be here (god-willing) about a month before my 32nd birthday.

all i know is that i wanted 2 kids and be done by the time im 30

i will be 26 in 3 weeks and having my first one in may so i am right on track

i thought after we were married we would start trying on our year anniversary which is on the 21st but i got baby fever bad lol

When I was 15, I thought I would be a wife and mother of three by the time i was 25.

At 25 the LAST thing on my mind was settling down and had no "plans" for anything but *ME*
When I met DH @ 31, I knew I was ready to get married. We both wanted ASAP
We started trying even before It ended up taking us over 3 years to get to this point.

Life doesn't always go according to plan. What is that saying, we plan, God laughs. I truly believe things happen exactly when they are suppose to

I always said I wanted to be married at 25 and have our first kid at 27; but DH and I got married when I was 28 (we dated for 7 years) and we are pregnant with our first now and I am 32. Although I wish we were a little younger starting our family, I wouldn't change 1 thing about where our life is right now. DH wanted to build our house and bank account up before having children so that we lived comfortable, and we are very happy where we are right now. I think sometimes life doesn't happen as we plan, but more so happens when it is supposed to.

Hmm. I wanted to be married by 24 and have kids by 26. I didn't meet DH until I had just turned 24, so my plans were off by two years ... married at 26 and baby at 28. I'm OK with that! (I also think that when I formulated my "plan" it was completely unrealistic!)

DH and I got married in 2008 after dating for 7 years. I knew I wanted kids, but DH and I wanted a house before we did. We bought a one bedroom co-op right before we got married. I also knew I wanted my first baby around 27/28.

I ended up getting pregnant at 28 and had DD 2 days before I turned 29 (she came 3 weeks early in order for me to say I was 28 when I had her) Then we bought out house 5 months later. Now I'm due with in a few months, which means I would have three kids by age 30 and we have our house.

We didn't have an exact plan with exact dates, but I would say things definitely worked out better than we could have planned!

my plan def. did now work...i thought for sure i'd be done with kids by 30...I got married at 24, but unfortanetey got divorced 2 years later....Long story short, i didn't get remarried until i was 34...got preggo on honeymoon..Had 1st baby at 35...
thought for sure i would of had baby number 2 by now..but that didn't work out either..had to wait until dh business was up and running...and so here I am at 38 pregnant with no. 2.
Regardless of all this, i'm very happy with the way everything turned out!

When I was a teenager, I was going to get married at 23, have kids between 25-30....

I MET DH at 25, we got married at 28, I was pregnant pretty much right away with DD, and had her when I was 29....I'll be 33 in April, and G-D Willing, #2 will be here in October

So yea, I'm a few years behind schedule, but I am SO okay with that, because I couldn't imagine having to do raise a kid at 25, or be settled down at 23. In fact, if I were to do it again, I'd probably wait another year or two to have #1...I feel SO much more ready for a baby and the newborn demands now than I was even 4 years ago!!

I think for me things worked out pretty close to my plan. As a teen I used to assume i'd be married by 25 and get pregnant within a year or 2 of that. Well, it ends up that I got married at 24, pregnant by 25, and will have at age 26. I always wanted 3 kids with a 3 year space inbetween so at this rate I would be done by 32-33 years old - which to me iseems perfect.

I want two or three kids and want to be done by 28. I'm 23 in may and have a 4 month old. Things for me are moving nicely.

My whole life didn't go according to my "plan".
I thought I'd be married with kids very young-early to mid 20's, but life had other plans for me.

i never had a time frame in my mind - we wanted some time just us because we lived in different states prior to getting married - so our son was born just after our 4th wedding anniversary

i always wanted 2 and wanted them 2 years apart - the 2 years was planned perfectly - #3 was a surprise - guess i was always meant to have 3

Well DH and I got married at 26 and we wanted to enjoy our married life for a cple yrs beforeTTC.

We starting trying right after our 2 yr anniversary and now DC is due a little before our 3 yr. So it worked out pretty much exactly as planned

I also wanted to have my first before 30, that worked too.

I think we are a few months behind. We wanted to enjoy marriage first, then kids. We originally wanted to buy a house first, then kids, but with the economy we decided we couldn't wait any longer.

When we got engaged I had a "7 year plan". I was 22 and wanted to have our first around 29. My plan was to get married in 2 1/2 years, buy a house in another 2 1/2 years, and then have a kid in another 2 years. We bought the house after 9 months, and then waited 2 years to start trying. It took about 9 months for us to get pregnant so that kept us pretty close to plan! I turned 28 in November and I'm due in 2 1/2 weeks!

Oh I wanted one or two kids by 25... I didn't meet DH until I was 31 so.... that didn't happen I will be 34 when I give birth so, yeah. My dream of a big family is way out the window BUT DH was very much worth the wait, and I bet my son will be too

So far, everything is going according to the "plan."

We got married at 23 and 24, and LO is due at 25 and 26.

When I was younger, I imagined I would become a mom around 25 or so, and have #2 around 27 or 28, but I'm thinking #2 will be more around 30.

I wanted to have my first baby before I was 30, Connor was born about 2 weeks after I hit the big 3-0. Now expecting #2, this baby is due around my birthday again. August is going to be a busy month in our family!
