So weird... Bellini advised against foam totally!
Probably because its cheaper.
Nope, I went to another store just to see if that was the case, the place I bough DD's furniture and said money is no object and they still said do not do foam
Did they give a reason? Baby bargains recommends it. It is just as firm, if not firmer than a coil mattress.
Im still a little confused, but I've read on several websites that the foam do not last as long...so maybe that is why some places don't recommend them. I registered for a Simmons innerspring from BRU,and after doing my research, Im sticking with it. I did discover that the infant side has a layer of foam...and that you flip it to the coil side for toddlers.
I know firmness is important for infants...they recommend that coild mattresses have at least 150 coils...the one 1 I registered for had 231 coils, so I'm comfortable with it.
They said foam is NOT as firm as coil and that they think they'll be phased out soon, bc think about a foam mattress for adults they form to the persons body and as firm as foam is it'll still be like that and will never get to the firmness of the coils I got a very high coiled one

IDK... I still think they may have been trying to get you to buy a more expensive mattress. The foam is not like memory foam - the kind you would have in an adult mattress. It is extremely firm - I certainly would not want to sleep on the ones my DC have.
This is from consumer reports: There are two general types of crib mattresses: foam and innerspring. Either is an acceptable choice. Both types--if they're good quality--will keep their shape well and provide excellent support for infants and toddlers. There are differences, though. Foam--made from polyurethane--tends to be lighter. The densest foam mattress usually weighs 7 to 8 pounds, compared with the 15 to 23 pounds of an innerspring mattress. So, although you're probably just lifting a corner at a time, changing your baby's sheets may be easier with a foam unit. Foam is also less springy and therefore less likely to encourage your child to use the mattress as a trampoline. Still, innerspring mattresses remain the most popular because they are what most adults sleep on in the U.S.

who the hell knows, but to be honest, they didn't charge us for the mattress bc we spent an arm and a leg on a ton of pieces...
doesnt make a difference as long as they've both been approved and safe!!!
