Talk to me about Sesame Place????

So John LOVES Fresh Beat Band!! They are having a concert at SP May 7th.. John will be 17 1/2 months by then.

I have NO CLUE what's there or what there is to do at sesame place.. I know it's a water park and "dry" park too....

Is it worth going JUST for the concert??? Will he be able to enjoy the park too or will he be too young??

Also how long is the ride. .Im getting conflicting times from people.. Im in seaford.

thanks for any info!!Chat Icon

Re: Talk to me about Sesame Place????

I live ten min from there. we are debating whether to bring DS there. he likes elmo, but he doesnt know too much of SS. I was also thinking of the fresh beat concert b/c DS loves them, but season pass holders get first dibs at reservations (i think) and im sure it will be a madhouse. So i dont think i want to deal with it.

that said, our friends in LI take their kids every summer and they are 9yrs, 4, 2. and usually have a ball. there are wet and dry rides and lots of stuff for little kids.

so i think its age appropriate for your DS.

I think our friends in hicksville have done the trip in just over 2 hrs. I dont know how far Seaford is from that. I know when we visit them we've made the drive in just under 2 hours depending on traffic.

Re: Talk to me about Sesame Place????

Last summer, DS had never even watched Sesame St and we took DS to Sesame Place when he was about 17m old. He had a blast!

We spent the majority of our time in the water park. I consider Sesame Place a water park with a few child friendly shows.

If you were only going to take your DC to Sesame once this year, I'd wait until it's warmer to enjoy the water attractions. If you think you will go more than once, go to the concert and take him again later to the water attractions.

I would go at 17 1/2 months because they are FREE until they are 18 months old.

I agree, DS didn't have to pay when he went before his 2nd bday.

Re: Talk to me about Sesame Place????

We've never been, partially because I always get conflicted reviews. Some say its clean and fun, others said it is dirty. I know a lot of people who went last year, their kids came home with coxsackie virus which I guess could happen at any public pool/water park.

Have you thought about Dutch Wonderland? Everyone raves about it. It is super clean and fun. They have a big sprinkler park that DS loved.

DD#2 LOVES FBB but we hated Sesame Place so this will be kept under wraps over here. I have no plans of going back there.

Re: Talk to me about Sesame Place????

Sesame Place IMO was just OK. it is a cute park and when you walk in it does look beautiful BUT I personally dont think it was that clean.

We were turned off by a lot of things....
we did the character breakfast and the food was just laid out on a long table and all these people were hovering around, cutting lines, touching the handles that fell in the food...it was just GROSS. We didnt eat one thingChat Icon just the set up was not smart. BUT we did get the cutest pictures of DD with the characters so for that it was worth it.

We had a kid (not a baby, a kid like 7 yrs old) just pee in front of our carriage. Chat Icon She was in her bathing suit and literllay squatted and peed on right in front of us with her parents not saying a wordChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

But we did love the parade, my DD went nuts!! She loves elmo and all the characters so to see her face it was worth it! Not sure when we r going back or IFChat Icon

But I did hear FBB is going to be there and she LOVESSS them!!! so maybe I will change my mind!Chat Icon

Re: Talk to me about Sesame Place????

My DD loves the Fresh Beat band to and I also wanted to go to Sesame Place for the concert but sometimes I get good reviews and sometimes I don't. I'm thinking maybe just going this one time for the concert mainly and then decide after that if I would ever go back. The look on DD's face when she sees the FBB up close will be priceless I'm sure :).

Good luck with your decision :)
