think i broke my ankle- have a question UPDATED
Anyone ever break their ankle and can still walk on it?
I am pretty sure I broke it today (fell at home). it didn't swell at first but after 2 hrs it did. Going to ER for xrys. Werid thing is I can walk on it but it feels VERY strange. And hurts.
Sooo annoyed!!!!!!!
UPDATED! Just got back from the ER, and it is a chipped bone. I am in a soft cast and crutches. have to see Ortho this week. Anyone have any experience with this?

Sounds like a bad sprain or possibly chipped a bone. Definitely go have it X-Rayed.

my Dad broke his ankle in 3 places & could still walk...get an x-ray to be sure...they thought it was a sprain at first

my dad broke his foot (twisted his ankle off a curb) and it didn't hurt him at all.

I agree definitely opt for an xray.
When I thought I broke my ankle it was actually a ligament tear. I did I felt it snap. But no matter whether it's a torn ligament, sprain or broken ankle, it' needs to be looked at.

I can't offer any advice, as this never happened to me. However, my DH can. He said this happened to him when he had a torn ligament/tendon and a fracture -hairline-. Let us know what happens! GET WELL SOON!

I broke my ankle and couldn't walk at all...I'm sure it depends on where the break is/severity of the break. Best to go get X-rays. Hope you feel better!

It's pretty common to be still be able to walk when you break your foot/ankle, it all depends on where the break is. Definitely get that x-rayed!

We were having the realtor come for THIS house and 2 seconds before she comes....I took a fall!
Now of corse I am like...was it a sign?????

Happened to me a few years ago....I stepped into a hole getting into my friend's car. But we were on our way out, so I walked on it and went to the doctor the next day.
Apparently, the way I twisted my foot, the ligament or something stretched and chipped a piece of bone. Hurt a lot....but it healed nicely in a soft cast and now it's all good.

Haha thanks! Awww that sucks what happened to you too. Yea funny part is the realtor is a second opinion bc we wanted to have at least 2 different companies come down....and you know how much I needed to get this ball rolling....so anyway she said no to today but then called back and said she had the time. So I said to my DH wow ok maybe that's a sign! (I am one for signs!). Then not even 5 min later this happened and I said oh no!!! This CAN'T be a good sign!!

You can kinda say that...I've had broken toes, sprained ankles, torn ligaments, and a fractured fibula right near the ankle. The fibula was the worst because I heard the bone snap and it blew up to the size of an orange within minutes...needless to say, I could not walk on it for weeks.
I hope you're doing ok and a speedy recovery to you!
