Did your homeowners insurance go up when you put in a pool?
Did you notify the company? Did rate go up? If so, how much?

Yes, it goes up. I called the town before we put in, an in-ground pool. To ask how much it would go up. It went up around $400-$500.

We bought a house with a pool. So, I don't know if the rates go up. However, I know some companies won't insure houses with in ground pools. That's the problem we ran into.

Re: Did your homeowners insurance go up when you put in a pool?
When you do any type of renovations to your home, you shoudl always notify your ins co. Some reno you do will cause the dwelling(replacement value) to be increased. Of course once the dwelling value increases so does the premium. But being insured to value is huge. When you actually need the policy you will be thankful that you were insured correctly. Most co will accept a pool. But they also have guidelines/requirements, Fence's, locking gate, knowledge of slides and pool's. Yes, the policy could go up but not alot at all. Prop under 100.00 per year.

Yes, a pool is a liability and the rate will rise.

incorrect. If you'd like, YOU can raise your personal liability coverage for more protection against a lawsuit (therefore causing the rate to increase), but no, your HO ins rate will not increase if you put in a pool, hot tub, trampoline, goat pen, firepit, etc.
