Sleep Position
Can we talk about this for a sec???
I know its been mentioned on here a couple of times and I know I've read it in some places online and/or in books but as of yet, my Dr has not mentioned to me anything about sleeping on my left side. I plan on asking him about this at my 24 week appt.
I have always been a right side or stomach sleeper. For the past month or so I've been using the snoogle to try and help keep me on my left side throughout the night. I have been waking up multiple times and finding myself either flat on my back (slightly tilted bc of the snoogle) or I've somehow managed to flip to my right side. Even DH wakes up now and then and tries to" fix me".
Now last night I woke up at 2am and could not fall back asleep for the life of me. Finally around 4am I gave up and made myself comfortable on my right side. So now naturally I woke up feeling so guilty and selfish.
My little nugget is fine since I felt her move this morning but I don't want to stress over this for the next 18 weeks.
How serious is this whole laying on your left side business?? Has anyones doctor actually told them to be mindful of it?
Thanks for humoring me

I have heard that if you are harming your baby, you will also feel it. Like your legs will hurt/go numb to let you know that you don't have the right bloodflow.

Same exact thing with me. I use the snoogle, so even when I roll onto my back I am still a little elevated. I think it is best if you sleep on your left side, but right side is totally fine, and your back is even ok. I woudn't stress about it.

Re: Sleep Position
I was always a right side sleeper pre preg. Then I tried switching over to the left and was pretty successful with it. Nuigget decided that he really likes my right side rib cage, so the fact that it was hurting like a b tch to sleep on my right side helped me switch over to the left.
Now, I just sleep however I can. I fall asleep on my left, roll over to the right at some point during the night, and even end up on my back at times.

this is me EXACTLY!! muffin moved into the right side and stayed there!
honestly there is very little chance you will hurt your baby by right side sleeping - the main effects of right side sleeping is compression of the anterior vena cava which is what returns your blood flow from extremities to heart. . (basically) so you are more likely to have an impact on your legs, varicose veins etc than the baby. . some people do disagree with this and say you don't actually feel this specific compression and the reduced blood flow so should avoid right side sleeping but honestly look at the human race success rate before we had the snoogle and I suspect it's okay. .I always try to start out on my left side but switch several times during the night. .

Re: Sleep Position
i am a total stomach sleeper so now that i have a bump it's much harder. i try to sleep on my stomach with my knee bent all the way up to take some of the weight off of my belly. it;s the only thing that works.
