What age do you stop with "cutesy" birthday attire?
I'm debating whether or not to get Ryan a "3" t-shirt for his party, or just a dress shirt (probably a RL Rugby or something since no need to be in a button down). I asked him what he wants to wear and he pulled out some raggedy play shirt that's getting small So I don't want to spend a lot of $$ on a special outfit when he seems to want to wear sweats and an old t-shirt .
Boy Mommys - how long did you do the "themed" party outfit??

Get a 3 shirt!!
Well I knew that would be YOUR answer QUEEN of themes
So we're going for cute, not handsome? I feel like all the Etsy stuff is corny.

I really think the fact that I'm a boy mommy influences this - if I had a girl I might be more "into" it.

I vote for the 3 shirt.
But I worship at the altar of Tine73 and I'm not even a little ashamed to say it out loud.
My brain is EXPLODING with my theme for Luke's birthday. Yeah, I know he's only going to be 1 but still. I get control for at least 3 years.

Ok, something like this I can do - he likes dinosaurs, but party is at Wood Kindgdom so not "theme" related, but it's not like I'm going to get him a bounce house tee. What do we think??

I like it! My DS just turned 3 and I got him a thomas train '3' shirt from etsy--he loves that shirt and asks to wear it all the time! One party we went to the little boy had a dinosaur shirt that said something like 'triceratop this, i am turning 3' that was cute too.

I really like the last one you posted. They're all cute but the last one is more classic. I think it suits YOUR style more too.

I think I might try my creative hand and make him something. And have the last one as my fall back I foresee many a challenged birthdays - searching for classic, and not too cute - perhaps I should learn how to make what I like

Re: What age do you stop with "cutesy" birthday attire?
I bought that classic raglan off etsy last year for his 2nd, and am considering it again for 3.
Its adorable, and can be worn on any day - not only his birthday.

Those shirts are cute, I didn't know they existed, I only did a first birthday shirt.
I say you get to choose as long as he lets you, so get the three shirt!

Since Toy Story 3 just came out I got lucky. It matched my theme and had a 3 on it.
I will be doing numbers as long as I can get away with it!

I'd say if that's your style, until HE tells you he doesn't want to wear it -
I am pulling rank and keeping my wardrobe control for as long as humanly possible ! I know there will come a day when he refuses to wear something and wants to pick out his own stuff -

He already is very particular about what he wears and it's not good You should have seen him selecting his outfit for today - he threw a fit yelling, "I can't make a decision" (about red shirt vs. guitar shirt ) and when I offered to help he said it was his job I think I introduced choices too early in my household

Janice, those shirts are hysterical. As for the original question, I really like the bottom shirt you posted- the classic one
