Registry Item Recommendations Thread

Can we start a thread with recommendations of big ticket registry items?
Strollers, car seats, pack n plays, bassinets, bouncers etc

i should have notebooked the few i came across but i didnt. This will help all the future mommies who are ready to register.

Which did you register for and did you have a reason?

I have this exerasaucer and i don't think it is that good - it is not sturdy when opened up - so we keep ours closed up - imy son is 16 months and thinks the things on it are interesting but that is any exersucer he sees

just a BTDT mom and her feelings on it

Re: Registry Item Recommendations Thread

This was a thread from DSLaff
This helped a lot!

The big ticket items I did more research than I can count , probably 20 plus hours and I have to say it was worth it bc all my products I actually use and are amazing.
Stroller: http://www.buybuybaby.com/product.asp?SKU=127694& register for the citi mini its lightweight, amazing control, storage underneath is plentiful, great in snow and of course #1 in all safety ratings. I have the bigger verison city select bc you can add a seat for another little one so if thats important to you then go with select check them both out at buy buy baby make the lady show you bothI lI r

Before they can go in stroller which is until they grow out of infant car seat , you need the snag n go this is so light connor could pick it up lol. The car seat snaps right in. http://www.buybuybaby.com/product.asp?sku=14967931&

Infant car seathttp://www.buybuybaby.com/product.asp?SKU=15117486& go with the graco snugride link attached. Do not I repeat do not go with the graco snugride 32 or 35 those numbers represent the max weight capacity of child. By the time your kid reaches that weight u will not be able to pick it up. Don't forget to register for an extra infant car seat base for nicks car. The eddie bauers mirror are good so u can see them while driving.

Convertible seathttp://www.buybuybaby.com/product.asp?SKU=17732137&RN=7022& (when they grow out of infant seat) you will need 2 bc they r stationary don't get fooled by the fancy britax name the evenflo triumph advance seat has same exact safety ratings and half the price.

Rainforest bath is awesome great hammock good size and lightweight http://www.buybuybaby.com/product.asp?SKU=14994785&

Breast pump medela brand is best. I am pumping at work so I got the hands free which is most exp. The medela pump in style 100 less just isn't as small. All depends if u want it to be easy to travel. http://www.buybuybaby.com/product.asp?SKU=15961422&

Diaper bag totally personal choice check them all out at buy buy baby I love my jjcole roomy tons of pockets zipper top thick shoulder strap for over the head carry. http://www.buybuybaby.com/product.asp?SKU=16216020&RN=7186&

Bouncy sweat and swing they are all the same go to the store and see what's space efficient for your house.

Swaddle blankets : get one of each and you will decide what baby restifo likes the best. I love the swaddle me bc its easy and velcro, i also like the woombie bc of the zipper but its not as tight as swaddle me. A lot of people like the miracle blanket but its annoying for me

no need for a highchair you can get this easy to transport and fits everywhere http://www.buybuybaby.com/product.asp?SKU=16700762&RN=7042&

my grandma insisted on a highchair for me so I told her to get me the graco i liked the way it folded , this is another personal choice go to store and play with them and see which one you like i would stick with the big brand names for safety purposes.

receiving blankets just mean large spit rags ahhahah i love the Aden + Anais they are so soft and large and can be used for everything swaddling, play mat changing on the floor, spit rags, blanket everything http://www.buybuybaby.com/regProduct.asp?WRN=-1488651641&sku=16692468&

The brest friend is literally amazing, I dont think I would still be nursing without it dont let people tell you , oh u dont need it , its a big pillow its not! it has lumbar support, frees up your hand and great position for baby http://www.buybuybaby.com/product.asp?SKU=17069985&RN=7359&

pack and play I registered for the baby bjorn bc of its amazing convenience its very pricey almost as much as my crib but since I am always on the go I wanted something lightweight and easy. http://www.buybuybaby.com/product.asp?SKU=127121&

I really like my baby bjorn some people rave about the baby carrier called ergo too many straps for me , you will have to check that out yourself at buy buybaby , personal preference. I use the baby carrier everyday for doing chores around house when connor wants to be held.

Bedding is a waste bc you can use the blanket or the bumpers ( safety concern dr will tell you) I still got it for the pictures ahhahah some people buy breathable bumpers I did not but would put them on registry and see f you like them, you need 4 sheets, 2 mattress pad covers and 2 changing table covers , i recommend the carters so soft!

my favorite item of course you know is connors rock and play sleeper http://www.buybuybaby.com/product.asp?SKU=16822914&RN=7082

Re: Registry Item Recommendations Thread

That is a great thread jess

i have to agree with the snugride - I only registered for the 30 because bbb did not have any more of the regular ones and didn’t know if they would get any and bru the only neutral one they had I couldn’t stand the pattern. The difference in weight of the seat is unreal – I cant believe how heavy the 30 is compared to the regular one!! The employee at bbb suggested I just register for the 30 and I can always return it for the regular if they come in with one I like.

and dana also reminded me to post my high chair - i registered for one that Goes on the chair because it matches my dining room lol and I didn’t want a bulky high chair in my dining room – do not really have the room for it anyway. Baby bargains also suggested this one it’s the fisher price space saver

I recommend registering for a real high chair if you have a larger dog - my golden retreiver can't get to the food on the tray of the high chair

when i go to my mom's house i have the fisher price booster that goes on a chair and my son is at the same level as our golden retreivers - even with us watching it is too easy for them to take food from him - we know put it on a bar stool

My can't live without baby item...every baby needs one of these.
DD slept in this every day/night until she was 3 mos old and we moved her to her crib....it folds up nicely and we took it EVERYWHERE with us...to friends for dinner, grandma's house...it's THE best and they are now coming out with different prints which is nice.

External Image

ETA: this is approved by the Pediatrics Assoc as a safe sleeping place for baby...apparently it is the ONLY recommended bassinet type approved item by them for safe sleeping...
DD hated her bassinet - never slept in it one night. This has a nice incline which I liked b/c after a night feeding I didn't worry about putting her right back down to sleep - I didn't worry about spit up or anything.

I registered for this because I loved that it was basically a 3 in 1 and that many less things to have in my apt. Good to know it's not that sturdy. Thanks! Might be changing that on the registry tonight.

We put this high chair on our registry also for the exact same reason - grows with the child.

I think I'm most excited about the City Mini stroller. I didn't get the hype until I went tot he store and checked it out. It is ridiculously easy to open and close and very lightweight. I have a bad back so those were important features for me. The shade also covers the baby really well.

We were also impressed with the Bright Starts Baby Playplace because it also grows with the baby and seemed to have a lot to offer.

This isn't a big ticket item, but I've heard nothing but amazing things about Aden + Anais swaddle blankets. I got them for my own LO, and they are soft, big, and stretchy! I am so excited to use them on her!

Along the same line as Laura said, I highly recommend the Aden & Anais burpy bibs -- they are AMAZING and so worth the price. I have 4 right now and plan to get 2 more!

I'm no where near registering, but I'm newly obsessed with this stroller. I wanted a snap and go and a city mini, but this thing is super cool and I'd probably only need one stroller.

Re: Registry Item Recommendations Thread

copying and pasting from something I posted a few months ago....

Can't live without this book....hands down best sleep book out there. DD is on and has been on an amazing sleep schedule thanks to this book. This helped me most with her nap schedule and getting her on a good nap routine.
Start reading it now while you are prego. No one told me to read it before the baby arrived...I had no time to read it until she was weeks old...would have been helpful had I read it sooner.
External Image

Can't live without these for the dishwasher...takes up much less space than those hard plastic baskets they sell. And it's mesh so it expands so you can fit a ton in these things.
Get them at buy buy baby
External Image

A friend suggested this and I think it's been great...keep something like this in your car. Just in case you ever run out of diapers in your diaper bag....you will have backup. I can't tell you how many times this has come in handy for me. It's also a bigger pad to lay baby on to change them than most that come in your diaper bag. I have done many back seat diaper changes on this...great to just leave in the car with wipes and diapers as backup.
External Image

Life saver..the Ultimate Crib Sheet. My other can't live without item. Have at least 1 clean back up (I have 3 total). DD drools and spits up a lot...I would hate to be changing that fitted crib sheet all the time b/c you pretty much have to take the mattress out to change it. This is the best invention - I love it!

Oh - I did not register for this. I registered for the Euro Primo bath but I LOVE this and am still bathing 6 mo old DD on it (which is def. unsafe b/c she tries to jump off...it's just so quick and easy I always keep one hand on her to make sure she stays put). It's just so simple - you put it in your tub and it's mesh so you dump a cup of water over the baby to rinse them and they are never sitting in a pool of water. DD pees in the bath all the time...so if she were in the actual little tub she'd be sitting in dirty pee water - I love this seat...it's the best. Been using it since Day 1 and hate to have to put it away soon. It's SO much better than all those little baths they sell...trust me you will not want your little 2 week old in a bath full of water. This is really easy.
External Image

And last but not least...I think every baby's favorite - brings such a smile to DD's face...just don't lose it for $20 you hate to have to replace it!
Sophie...
