anyone not planning on having really any visitors at the hospital?

I had a c/s last time and hated people seeing my pee bag and looking terrible...and feeling pressure to be "on".

This time, I think I don't want any visitors.

what about you guys?

I'm on the fence about this. I don't feel like I'll be in the mood for tons of visitors a day or two after I give birth. I also don't know if I want people coming to our apartment in the first week. While I'm sure I could say no visitors at the house or the hospital, it isn't realistic with our friends and family.

My main issue is I live in a small apartment with a big happy jumpy dog that LOVES visitors, but drives me crazy when people are here. So I'm thinking I'd rather people come to the hospital than come to my house after the baby is born. At least in the first week when we are trying to settle in.

My hope is that if people come to the hospital maybe that will limit the flow of people at the house in the first week?

Re: anyone not planning on having really any visitors at the hospital?

For some reason, I think I am going to have more. Became a lot closer to DH's family over the past few years and have this weird feeling they will all be there. For my fam, my mom, bro, and aunt will probably be the only ones and they know me, if I start to get biatchy, they know to turn around slowly and leave.Chat Icon
I hope not too many people come. I know havign DD there this time around is going to be challenging enough.

I've been thinking about this.

I mean, if I'm feeling crappy I'm not going to want to see anyone...even family (except my mom of course, lol). But I feel like if I'm not doing good and considering everything that I just did (eek!), I will tell people straight out to give me some space.

When people ask about visitors, I've already been saying that I"m playing it by ear. Check with DH first and he'll say yay or nay.

But if I'm feeling good...it may be a different story, lol! Oh and depending on how long i'll be at the hospital too.

Re: anyone not planning on having really any visitors at the hospital?

i'm having a c/s,i know for a fact that i don't want any visitors besided for mine and DH's paretns that day, there is no need really. after that i think it's kinda hard to stop people from coming to visit, but as long as they are healthy it's fine

Re: anyone not planning on having really any visitors at the hospital?

I'm having a repeat c-section because of they are twins.

My appearance didn't really bother me as much as the fact I felt like I couldn't really "adjust" to becoming a mommy. And I felt bad that DH was constantly asking people to wait in the hall while I tried to nurse and stuff.

This time around I know everyone and their mother is going to want to come see the twins. Its such a unique experience for DH's family.

My saving grace is we have a 2.5 year old DS who will need someone to stay with him so I am hoping that will keep visitors at bay.

I have already planted the seed that I really only want close family coming to the hospital. Everyone else can come see us when we get home. By then I should feel more up to it.

Re: anyone not planning on having really any visitors at the hospital?

I liked having visitors...I didn't like having people in the waiting room and then in the delivery room right after DS was born. I wasn't really ready to share him yet.

I'm pumped! I can't wait to have people coming and visiting me and the babylicious (as long as they are not sick and wash their hands)

I work in a doctors office that is affiliated with Good Sam and expect at least one or two doctors will be coming in after I deliver.

Re: anyone not planning on having really any visitors at the hospital?

I will allow only grandparents on day one.

After I am out of bed and stuff, then I dont mind who comes.

Last time I had a c/s as well, and I was annoyed when my BIL and his whole family showed up at 7pm (I had DS at 10am) I was EXHAUSTED and could barely keep my eyes open and here was a family of 5 talking to me and wanting to ask me things etc! I just wanted to SLEEP at that point!

So this time I am telling everyone I would prefer no visitors on day one!

Re: anyone not planning on having really any visitors at the hospital?

We had boatloads of people there for DS #1.

For my second, we had less - but still alot. Probably about 10 each night.

I'm sure this time we will have less.

I don't mind the visitors. My aunts, cousins, were all there 3 hours after my surgery.

Never going to happen. We both come from big italian families. My immediate family all of us together is 12 alone. So not going to happen. Not that i want to anyway. I love having my family around. Loud & obnoxious & all. I LOVE EM! If they dont love you at your worst then who will? Plus my mom always loves to spoil her children when they need it. So bring on the moms cooking while im layed up. Re: anyone not planning on having really any visitors at the hospital?

I worked at the hospital I had DS at so ppl were visiting at ALL hours (3am, 6am, etc) and it didn't bother me at all! It was nice to have a co-intern deliver sushi 6 hours after delivery!

This time we are in a new town and I don't work where we are delivering, my DH does. It's kinda sad Chat Icon But I'm sure we'll still have visitors since several friends from previous hospital now work where I'm delivering! Chat Icon

Re: anyone not planning on having really any visitors at the hospital?

We only had two visitors. My SIL and a friend of mine who came with her mother.

I was a little sad no one else could visit us, but that's how it was. My family is in NY (I'm OOS) and couldn't be here that fast. Heck, our baby is 4 weeks old today and my mom still hasn't come to visit. Stupid NY weather.

It is what it is. I'd rather have fewer visitors if it's less of a chance of the baby getting sick. Plus I was in really bad shape from my 2nd degree tear, it was nice not to have to try to put on a happy face for too many people. DH did stay with me the entire time which was wonderful.

Re: anyone not planning on having really any visitors at the hospital?

I'd like to have as few visitors as possible. And the first day home, I want NO ONE.
And as few as possible (grandparents or a few friends are ok for a short time). I dont want to feel the need to be 'on', have to entertain. I want to walk around comfortable in my house, which to me means braless if I so choose, Pj's, no make up, totally comfy and all that. I feel I cannot be that way with people there all the time. Aside from the attitude I am going to be dishing out from the hormones.. Chat Icon

I doubt I'll have a lot of visitors since nearly all of my friends are in southern Nassau and I'll be at St Charles in Port Jeff. Although because I said that watch it be a revolving door Chat Icon

This is our first child, and I have a feeling a lot of family and friends will be stopping by.

I'll welcome it and I'd rather they show up at the hospital than when we get home.

Does this mean you will frown on me jumping on your bed 5 mins after you get home from the hospital?

Re: anyone not planning on having really any visitors at the hospital?

We don't really want any, and we already told our parents this--just my mom, FIL, and BIL/his fiance. Our parents know the rules and respect them. Aunts, uncles, friends, etc. can wait...we'll have this baby for awhile, and--even thought it will be a happy occasion--I don't really want people seeing me feeling and looking like cr@p. That's just how I am though, I like everything as organized as possible and would panic if we had random visitors.

Re: anyone not planning on having really any visitors at the hospital?

I didn't really have too many visitors the first time, and am expecting even less this time.
I may actually be alone a lot of the time because my parents will be watching DC and there is a change my DH will have to work.
