Snow related- is it reasonable to ask to leave early?

FH's commute involves the subway and then a 15 mile drive from my house to his place in LI.

Seeing that the snow is going to be bad tonight, do you think I should tell him to ask to leave early, or would that make him look bad?

What are people in your office doing?

His office is pretty chill, but they also don't understand because most of the people who work there live in Manhattan

He could ask, but I'd expect it to be taken from his personal time.

ITA.

I have already asked to leave early because of weather - DH said the roads were horrible by us.

I'm probably going to leave and bring home my laptop and finish up at home.

We're hunkering down in here until told otherwise.

I'm sick of losing my time for the snow. I'll deal.

DH cancelled his afternoon tutoring hours - he's going to do me a favor and get the baby from the sitter while its still daylight and things haven't iced up yet..

so yes, i think its reasonable!

I think so. I run an after-school program and am usually here til 6:30 or so (program ends at 6). we have called all parents and asked them to pick up by 5pm, and my assistant director who lives closer to work than I do will cover from 4-5pm so I can leave earlier (I have a longer drive)

If there's NO chance of his office closing early, then it's totally reasonable to leave early. Like previous posters said, I think he should be prepared to either be docked or use personal/comp time.

I agree.

It all depends on the office. I'm training it for 1.5 hours & then have 15 minute drive. I wouldn't consider leaving early because of how it would impact me later on with my boss.

I'm tempted too, but I know my colleagues

I won't get docked or anything, and to my face, they'll be like "go ahead"

Behind my back they'll be like Chat Icon and probably use it against me down the road so it's not worth the hassle

Yeah this is more what I'm thinking. I didn't mention it to him. He's not the type to worry that much but I worry about him.
