napping @ daycare vs home

WHY OH WHY does my child sleep for 3-4 hours at daycare, but whenever I have him for the day its 1-2 hours TOPS. I don't get it!

I had off Monday and Tuesday he isn't at daycare. Sat, sun, Monday and Tues he took a 1.5 hour nap in the morn and a like 45 minutes in the afternoon. WHY or HOW does she get him to sleep so long! She does the same thing that I do!

In my case it's the opposite, DS sleeps a lot better at home than he does at daycare. He took two 30 minute naps there yesterday.

Not sure... I've heard this b4 though. DS sleeps well both at daycare and at home. I think he sleeps longer there. Maybe they feel at daycare they're not missing anything b/c everyone else is asleep. They play the soft music and the kids get all cozy on their cots. Then at home mommy is up and around so he wants to be with her. There's no one else sleeping in their room so it's not fun

My DD always napped better at home than at daycare (she's pretty much done with the naps now at 4)


however my son naps better at daycare than at home. Actually if my DH is home (which is rare) he will nap, but on my days home (they go to daycare 3 days) with them he won't nap at all!!! So it seems he only doesn't nap for me!

same here. he'll take a 2 hour nap at daycare and only an hour at home.

opposite for us he will not nap at daycare, or not well but at home he will sleep 2-3 hours!

maybe he just wants to hang with you instead of sleep

same for us....my sister watches him 2x a week and he always sleeps for nearly 3 hours at a time!!! No such luck at home

same here. I work part time so my DC goes 3 days a week. T will sleep 2+ at daycare and only 1 or 1 1/2 for me at home. I think in his case there is so much more going on at daycare..being with all the kids and it tires him out. He also sleeps better through the nights the days he goes versus when he is home.

Its one of the modern mysteries of the world.

AJ has ALWAYS done this. I even spied on her at daycare as a infant to see if they were lying!

She sleeps on time for 2hrs straight (if not more) at daycare right now (2yrs old) but at home its erratic and random and less than 2hrs.

I don't understand it

I will never get it

I just have learned to let it go

How old is your DS?
Mine was the same way until he got to the toddler room. In the infant room they slept in the swing and in toddlers, they sleep in a crib. I always have him nap in a crib at home. So when it was different, he was confused LOL....but now he usually takes a 2 hour nap, same as at daycare.

DD does not go to daycare, but does go to my mother's and my mother in law's during the day. She has always napped better there. I think it's the "I know Mommy is home" thing.....it bugged me for the longest time and made me feel like I was doing something wrong. I am OK with it now. I chalk it up to that she likes me best
