Re: Is your life what you always wanted?

I may not be rich with money but I'm rich with love and that's all that matters to me. I have everything I want and need from and in life. I couldn't dream of being any happier.

Re: Is your life what you always wanted?

Yup I work part time (but with a verrrrrry flexible schedule). I work with my dad while my mom watches the baby. I absolutely love my work situation. The work itself is not super exciting but I love that work allows me to spend time with my dad while my mom gets to spend time with her granddaughter. I love that since my work is so part time and flexible I get to do lots of fun activities, classes and playdates with dd. Most of all I love that I get to spend a large part of the day with dd but that work also allows me a break, and makes the time that I have with her feel more special. The only thing I would change in the entire situation was that I wished dh worked less. He doesn't get home till after dd is asleep and only gets to see her for a little every morning. Mostly I feel badly for him bc he misses out on a lot because he works a lot.

I have a wonderful child and I'm able to spend every day with her...however, most other aspects of my life are not the way I envisioned.

Not in the financial aspect but every other part of my life is how I pictured it.

Ditto.

I am a FTWM, and my DH is a FTWD.

We have 2 gorgeous kiddos and they go to a daycare that we really like.

This is the life I've always envisioned for me-stability, financial security, etc. Being a SAHM never entered my thought process

I never thought SAHM for me either. My mom growing up always pushed us for careers.

We did move back to NY when I had #1, so I didn't have a job - but I knew that was temporary and just took some time to find one.

My dreams were always to be home home with my babies. I never thought of it any other way. My mom was home for all us and we loved it.

Re: Is your life what you always wanted?

I don't know if it's exactly what I would have envisioned, but realistically it's pretty damn good. In my head, I was going to be a tv reporter, be married to a rich man and live a very pampered life. Chat Icon Chat Icon In reality, I teach dance for a living- not as "star" quality of a profession, but it is possibly even better. I actually really enjoy what I do, I make very good money for the hours I work, and I am able to only work part time 9 months of the year. My DH is not so rich money wise. But sure enriches my life. He loves me and loves our kids. I always know that we come first for him (except when he acts like an a$$Chat Icon ) And so much for a pampered life style. Re: Is your life what you always wanted?

Yes...

I have a really supportive amazing husband who I am genuinely in love with and who is the best father to our son and I have a beautiful healthy baby boy who I adore. I am pretty much a SAHM with the exception of the few hours I work as a therapist each week up the block. It's a perfect balance for me because I get to do pretty much everything with my son. I'm not saying everyday is a fairytale, it takes work and some days are hard but at the end of the day, I'm content.

Before my son was born I was going to continue working FT thinking it wouldn't be so hard to leave him but for me I didn't realize what it was like until he was born. When I was little I thought I'd be a housewife like my mom, then I grew up and went to college and grad school and was going to be a FT working mom, and then I had my son and everything changed. So it's not what I always envisioned since it's changed so many times but it's exactly what I want now.

Re: Is your life what you always wanted?

Life is always evolving. It ebbs and flows. Some days it's better than I could have ever imagined and then there are days where I question why I am even where I am. But overall, I love who I have become and where I am.

It's a far different place than where I was five years ago. I would never trade what I have now for what I had then.

Re: Is your life what you always wanted?

Yes... I consider myself one lucky girl and I always ponder what I did in a past life that was so incredible that I got so lucky in this life.

Of course, there are hiccups (i.e. motorcycle incident), but overall I am more smitten with my DH now than when we met; he is a wonderful husband and father. I have two beautiful, smart, spirited little girls, and I have found a way to balance it all with a very challenging, but rewarding career as a civil rights attorney. I work full-time, which is what I always wanted, but I have such a family-friendly job and such a short commute, that I get to spend plenty of quality time with my girls.

Somehow, I landed the husband of my dreams, the girls of my dreams and the job of my dreams. The only thing missing is a close immediate family, and of course, my father, which stings every day.

Re: Is your life what you always wanted?

Yes and no. There are certain things that I have always wanted. A loving husband, a place to call home, family and friends that surround me, a career that I truly enjoy and of course good health.

I have all of this. I didn't always know that I wanted children. This has been the surprise of my lifetime. I wasn't one who always pictured herself as a mother. It happened overnight. One day I didn't want children and the next I woke up yearning for one. Now that I have DS, I couldn't imagine it any other way. He has in a way completed me.

Could my life be better? Sure! Things can always be improved. But, I can safely say, I couldn't be happier with what life I have been given and I have made for myself. Chat Icon

Re: Is your life what you always wanted?

No. I'm not.

I have 2 gorgeous and healthy kids and I'm married to a man that I couldn't possibly love more than I do now. I have a lovely home in a good neighborhood and a wonderful family and great friends. So with THAT part.. I'm good. I'm better than good.

But I always pictured myself in a job I loved. I hate my job. Money is too much of a concern for me to be comfortable. I feel trapped and breathless because of it. It effects the way I live my life. If I could just get right there.. I'd truly have it all.

Maybe we're just not meant to have it all.
