Re: S/O to siblings: How long have/were your parents married

My parents were married 38 years this past February. My dad passed away on Memorial Day of this year, so 38 years it is.

They had their issues I'm sure, but were happy for the most part. I would say their marriage affected me in how I saw my dad speak to my mother...he was short tempered and I took great issue with it growing up, and DH saw it too so he knows how not to speak to me if he knows what's good for him.

My in laws..where do i start...divorced and remarried twice...to each other. Then both remarried, much happier to other people after the kids were grown and out of the house. I won't go into details but their entire marriage/divorce/marriage/divorce had a profound effect on everything my DH is today, some good, some bad. He and both of his siblings are a constant work in progress because of it. Luckily it taught him how he does not want to be in a relationship.

Re: S/O to siblings: How long have/were your parents married

my mother was married to my bio father for about 4 years I would say (from 17-21 or 22) he disappeared and has basically been off the radar and out of my life ever since.

my mom got with my stepfather sometime between the ages of 3 and 5 for me (I don't quite recall. I feel like I woke up one day and he was there Chat Icon ) they married when I was about 13 and divorced when I was about 19 or 20.

I learned more about what I *DIDN'T* want my life or my love or my marriage to be from my childhood.
