Let's list our "Blizzard of 2010" gripes! We can make it a game

If someone lists a gripe that you agree with/experienced, then add a "*" to what they posted, or something.

Here is my official gripe list (ok, Christmas is over, I'm out of joyfulness, so let me complain Chat Icon)

Official List of Snow Gripes:

-Wondering the night before, "hey...we have a shovel, right?" "Where are the car scrapers?" or other related "are we prepared?" concerns.

-Constant media coverage of snow totals.

-Ridiculous news anchors. I get it. You made a snow angel at the gas station. Cute. Stop doing it every 3 hours.

-The mentality that every business and career should come to a cease during a storm. Not understanding that certain things we need during a storm (electricity, heat, TV) all require people to go to work so you can be comfy at home.

-The fact that your face gets freakishly red and shiny when exposed to cold for too long.

-Your nose running and you can't properly wipe it due to gloves/mitten issues.

-Snow plowers blocking in your driveway after you just shoveled yourself out, or just in general.

-Cabin fever.

-The term "Snowmaggedon."

-Driving slow and safe and having some azzhole with a plow/AWD/etc bully you on the road when you don't even know what lane you're in, but you know you're in the only spot in the road that has tracks and is safe and they go to pass you to move in front of you, coming inches from your vehicle. And then they speed ahead.

-4WDrivers who think they won't get into an accident.

My only gripe was that we have 2 snowblowers that didn't work. Thankfully DH has a friend that had one to spare so I didn't have to shovel Chat Icon

People who don't plow/shovel properly.

Not plowing the roads AT ALL.

Attacking the grocery stores as if preparing for the end of days. I kid you not I saw a woman with 2 carts full of toilet paper Chat Icon

People in general just totally panicking...It's snow, it melts, calm down and deal with it.

HAVING NO POWER.

It was last night from 7pm until almost midnight.

Dark house, two dogs, temp went down to fifty degrees inside.

Missing the end of Iron Chef was the least of it lol Chat Icon

We ended up staying at our parents when it got too cold.

HAVING NO POWER.

No joke, I can be a trooper with most things.......I can go camping and rough it and be cool...but no power when I am home - I kid you not, drives me to the edge of insanity. Literally. This is how I know I'd never hack it as an Amish person.

That, and I don't like men with creepy Amish beards.

The Price is Right was pre-empted by the newsmedia telling us that trains weren't running, what the snow totals were, and that it's cold as a witch's tit outside.

THANKS A LOT, CAPTIAN OBVIOUS!!!!

Alls I wanted today was a little Plinko action. Chat Icon

My plow service not coming to plow out my driveway and not returning phone calls.

Our snowblower deciding NOT to work on my tremendous ski slope of a driveway.

Mine just happened...

My DH spent a long time digging our jeep out today.. I just went to 7-11 to get butter and some a*shole took my spot!! (we live in an apartment complex) and we park in the same spot everyday!!) This guy was parked next to us and didnt dig himself out, he kinda just plowed thru the snow in his truck..

Then when I pulled up, he was getting out of his truck in his nice clean parking spot and I had to go in his s*itty spot!!

I had that happen last year. I was in tears most of the day. We tried calling tons of people on Craigslist to come do it, too. It was awful. I will never forget that day. People were promising they'd come and they didn't.

Where do you live? Our new landscaping/leaf clean up company also provides snow removal and even though he just got to us within the past hour, I was ready to kiss him!

not being able to afford to pay someone to dig us out or buy a snowblower or plow to do it. i can't bend over and i am in horrible pain.

people who have a SUV and think they are invincible in this weather. Um your crossover isn't a real asset perhaps if it was a jeep 4wd i would be more free with driving but your mom mobile can't handle this when going 30 down a snow filled side street.

the news completely dedicated to storm coverage. Yea its snowed, yea people are waiting to dig out why do we need to see one hour plus coverage on this.

I'm freaking that the guy I called won't come even though he said he would definately be here at some point tonight (they are 24 hour service). I cannot get stuck in the house for the 4th day in a row with my toddler, otherwise I'm going to be sent off to a padded room somewhere! And shoveling out the driveway myself is NOT an option, I live up a huge hill and my driveway is a monster.

I live in NJ....

Re: Let's list our "Blizzard of 2010" gripes! We can make it a game

Def stealing parking spots!
Luckily, I now have a double driveway, but when I lived at parents, it was a huge issue on the street. We would dig out our cars and if we went out, other cars would be sitting in those spots in front of our house and we would have nowhere to park! We started to only shovel a path out, and then using filled garbage cans to block the entrance/exit.

Not shoveling/blowing properly!
I can't stand driving through streets that were actually plowed to only come upon areas of piled snow or seeing the people shoveling/blowing and throwing the snow right into the middle of the street! Yeah, good idea, complain about the plow blocking you in, but throw it in the street. Not only is it hazardous, but if a plow comes again, where do you think it's going to go??Chat Icon

Cabin Fever! I hate being stuck inside

Not seeing DH because he's working 14 hour shifts.

People constantly complaining that sanitation isn't doing their job when my DH comes hme exhausted from driving the plow all day and even has sometimes had to get over and shovel walkways...for hours on end. These guys work hard...12-14 hour days and go without seeing their families for days. Please give them a break!

Living in Manhattan and hearing residents of the other 4 boroughs saying "I haven't seen a plow yet here, or There are more then 1 borough in the city of NY" Yep, I get it! However, I live on the UES and we didn't really get plowed until this afternoon.

And the mayor saying "If schools were open today, there would have been school"

Finally, the mayor speaking Spanish! Oh, how he butchered the language!

- The cold
- Did I mention the cold
- The fact that my car is completely buried
- Going stir crazy
- All of my plans were totally scrambled because of this.
- Blatantly obvious commentary by news reporters.

we were out from about 9:30pm through 9ish this morning. Luckily i had the heat cranked all day yesterday so it stayed pretty warm in here. i got up a few times to make sure the baby was covered and all was OK. the most annoying part was having no tv to see what they were saying about the roads! i had no idea if i was going to have to go into work or not.

and i missed the last 34 minutes of iron chef, too. Chat Icon

Other than shoveling and going to the laundry room right outside my front door I haven't been out of my house since Xmas eve! I am going absolutely insane in here!!! It is my mission to get out and enjoy tomorrow at all costs.

Re: Let's list our "Blizzard of 2010" gripes! We can make it a game

My gripe is that today was supposed to be my first day of my winter break where I was home by myself. I love my DH, but I cherish my few vacation days alone, and we just had a fabulous relaxing 3 days together. I was supposed to work my dissertation all day, but between helping him shovel and being distracted by the snow and having company, I didn't have the day I planned. Now he might be home tomorrow too, if the trains don't start running!

I know, it sounds horrible to complain about DH being home. Chat Icon
