high chair question - in your opinion, is a footrest really important?
and if you have one with a footrest, which one do you have?
I ask this because when I'm feeding DS (he's in a spacesaver now) he pushes his feet on me. My mother suggested he might be doing that because it might be hurting his spine when he's sitting there with his feet hanging all the time.
I googled, and well you know what happens when you google these things , so I stopped and came here.

for us the foot rest catches the food that falls. she doesn't necessarly put her feet on it. But we also use it to put her sippy cup on so it's her height and she's not tempted to climb back into the high chair.

I think by time DS' feet could reach the foot rest part, he was moving into a booster seat so I would say no, it isnt important. I had the FP Rainforest high chair.

I was going to post the same thing. They were done with the highchair by 12 months and I don't think their feet even fully reached by then.

We have the space saver as well, and both of my DD's push(ed) on me too. I don't think it's because it's hurting them though - I think they just like to push because I am there

We've had one that attaches to the kitchen chair. DS pushes off on me, the table, etc. It's just what he does. I never imagined it had anything to do with a lack of footrest! I would say, no, not necessary.

Mine has a foot rest but I don't think my DS feet even reach it! So I doubt it's that important.

Re: high chair question - in your opinion, is a footrest really important?
My mom is an infant feeding specialist and always stressed the importance of a foot rest for babies when in a high chair. She said she's always shocked that there aren't more high chairs with adjustable footrests. I don't recall WHY it's important, but she said it is.

Re: high chair question - in your opinion, is a footrest really important?
Yes.
Early on it's not as important but when your child is a toddler it's very nice to have so he/she can use it to climb on the highchair.
DS likes doing this so he doesn't feel trap up there. He can go up and down as he pleases and is more willing to sit in a highchair that way.
