It depends. I think by the time you have a baby a 2 bathroom place is necessary. Do you think you guys would have $ to do an add on at that point?
I don't think I'd buy a 1-bathroom.

I had hoped to get at least 1.5 baths when we bought our first house but we wound up with just one (the house was too good of an opportunity to pass up).
However the house has a full, unfinished basement that would easily accommodate another bathroom if/when we ever finish it.
We see this as a starter house that we COULD stay in if we wanted or had to, since we can finish the basement and/or build up or out. If we stay we will definitely be adding a second bathroom.

We currently have a one bath coop and it's just us. There have been several times when just another toilet would have been great. So on the list when we have a house is AT LEAST another half bath.

we have one bathroom, and its fine. Based on having lived with a 1BR, I would totally look at homes with only 1.

One would be fine if it was just the two of us but with a family, I won't consider anything with less than 2 bathrooms.

same here we have 3
Putting a new bathroom is VERY expensive! you need to conect to the ceaspool, you need permits and co's your taxes will go up etc.

i grew up with a family of 4 with one bathroom
we bought our house with one bathroom and we are fine
We finishing the basement and putting a full bath downstairs now. If we did not do that we would be fine. We are doing it for the convenience of hanging out down there and not having to go upstairs
but i see nothing wrong with a 1 bathroom house. it is all what you want though.

My house has 2 1/2 bathrooms and my old house had 2 full baths and we only use(d) one of them. So i would not be against 1 bath.

I grew up with only 1 ... so i was used to it, but we ended up for now at least with a 1 1/2 bath condo.... but Im already complaining that its going to suck having kids with only 1 tub...

we have a one bathroom house, but in our basement there is a second toliet, i know weird, its just a toliet! lol
eventually we will put another bathroom in, but at the present moment there is absolutley no need

I HATE HATE HATE having a 1 bathroom home especially since I grew up with multiple bathrooms.
Our next house will def. have more then 1 bathroom.

depends, its very costly to add a bathroom (with the proper Co's) and might not be easy depending on your house setup. If there was a easy way to add it, the house is really nicely priced then yes.
We were looking at anything at one point and many had one bathroom but no way to add unless you took away space of a bedroom and made a tiny one and the plumbing would be a PIA. Also bathrooms in most villages and towns in basements are illegal so if you plan on putting one there illegally then plan to rip it out before you sell.

I would want more than 1... not only for you & your kids but also for visitors that come over, you don't want everyone upstairs all of the time. I have 3 which is a lot but I prob wouldn't buy something with less than 2.

Growing up, there were 7 people in my family and we had one bathroom. It was never a huge issue, but it could definitely be frustrating at times. Because of this, my DH and I would only look at houses with 1.5 baths or more.

We did but only because we knew we could add another. I think once having kids who need to use it too would make it difficult to only have one. After 2 years we added one in our basement.
