Anyone's DH work nights
and are nervous and concerned about being on their own at night/overnight once LO arrives?? DH is a firefighter and while he does not work every night he does 24 hr shifts at least 2 times a week. I know i will get into a routine but I can't help but add this to my list of anxieties!! On the positive side DH is off alot more due to his schedule which will help with only needing child care part time.

Re: Anyone's DH work nights
My husband's a pediatric resident and is working nights 4/11-5/20. I'm due 4/27 after that he does one weekend a month of nights. Although, not full time he works about 16 weeks of nights total during the year. I'm really nervous about the nights in the beginning. I feel like I'll eventually get used to the sporadic nights, but just wish that he could take some time off in the first week or so. We have a dog and live in an apartment and already dread having to pack up the baby at night to take her out when he is at work.

Re: Anyone's DH work nights
Yes.. my husband works nights every other week and I'm very nervous.. not just becuase I have to take care of the baby by myself.. but bc I am terrified when I am home alone. I am a 28 yr old scared of the dark, I lock the place up like you wouldn't believe and still freak out.
When the baby is born DH is taking about 1.5 months off of work, so hopefully by the time he goes back I will have a better handle on taking care of the baby. I also really want to get extra locks (if thats possible!)

My husband is a resident and some weeks I am in a similar situation! I just take it one step at a time.

Re: Anyone's DH work nights
DH works 11am-10pm. It was super hard in the beginning with DS, not going to lie. And when DS was just 6 weeks old he had a biz trip for 4 days 3 nights!
By 4 months in we were in our own routine. And now, with DS being 2 and me being a SAHM, I find it easier when he isn't home
I'm sure I won't be saying that when the twins are here.
But don't worry about it too much, you will find your groove!

Don't feel bad I'm 33 and I'm scared of being home alone as well! Even with the house being locked up and the alarm on. I think it's because my husband being a detective hearing to many stories and watching to much TV! When DH works nights I leave every light on in the house!
