postpartum body ?

im not sure where to put this question but for btdt moms - how long did it take until your body got back to a point where you were able to recognize it again??

my hips/backside/thighs just got so huge while pregnant - i cant even bring myself to pull out pre-preggo clothes fearing it will make me cry. i cant shop for things that arent maternity because i have no clue what size i even am. i have no idea how to even begin to dress myself and have been living in yoga pants & leggings.

i just feel like my belly, arms & boobs have all kind of went back to normal but my whole bottom half is just so foreign to me. i was just curious if im progressing @ a "normal" pace or if this is my new body shape and should get used to it.

thanks

Re: postpartum body ?

it takes TIME.. be patient and don't be hard on yourself.. you gave birth to LIFE.. Chat Icon

I bounced back rather quickly with each pregnancy (I have 3 kiddos).. the first one was devastating what it did to my body because I felt like an old lady when I left the hospital.. (lol) but slowly and surely it'll go back on its own.. take care of yourself...Chat Icon

You sound just like me. I lost 20lbs and need to lose another 20. It is strange because when I look at myself, I don't feel that I look TOO different -- but then I tried on my work clothes. Not a single thing fits. I had to go to Target and get a whole new (and very limited) wardrobe.

I am not giving up though, but I refuse to sausage myself into my old clothes until I get back to my old self!

Thank goodness our DC are so cute and worth it! Chat Icon

Re: postpartum body ?

Tricia...it takes time so hang in there.

3mths PP and I still have 10lbs to loose. I started WW.

I hate that Im not fitting into any of my clothes right now. Im getting a lot of use out of leggings right now and my sisters fat clothes that she hung on to.

By 3 months I had lost all the weight. (I watch my intake and run at night.) My body is nowhere near where I would like it to be, but most people are shocked when I tell them I have a 3 month at home.

ETA: my post was a bit simplified. I'll be back later to add more.

Um, three yearsChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Seriously, between caring for twins, returning to my crazy work schedule and the stress of what the recession brought to DH's job... there was no time left to even try to take care of me until very recently. Oh, yeah and when you are late 30's the pounds are harder to lose. This summer, I joined WW online and lost 20 pounds. I still would like to lose 10 more. The summer was when I could really devote time to it.

My mid section is looking more familiar.

i did not lose an ounce of weight until i stopped breastfeeding at 6 months. At that point, i was about 15 pounds over my pre-preg weight. It took about 4 months for me to get back down to size/weight, and one year later I'm 102 pounds.
