it depends on the people you're buying for. do they like plants? or are they plant killers like me?
as a new home owner, i would prefer a gc to bbb, or lowes or home depot or homegoods... IMO.....

generally no, but if you're like me then yes  my stepmom brought 3 plants over to my house the day before the wedding and they're all dead. i have a thumb as black as they get

Ehh I'm not a fan of that as a housewarming gift to give or receive.
I'd rather give them something they will enjoy (like food, wine, GC, etc) than something they have to water & care for.

I think orchids are great gifts, flowers and plants in one. And they last for AGES (okay mine always die) but they keep their flowers for like 3 months if they are happy.

My step bro gave us a small fish in little square tank. Small enough not to be a PIA but a really nice addition to the house.

ummm totally not a fan of plants as housewarming gifts.
How about a small gift basket with either snack, cleaning products or paper products. Or maybe even a gift card to their local grocery store.

Personally, I am not a plant person. So because I don't like plants (I tend to kill them) I never give plants as housewarming gifts unless I know the person is a total plant person and I don't like to get plants as a gift. (even though I do appreciate the thought)
I just feel that when you give a plant, you are giving someone something that they need to take care of.... essentially giving them work!

I agree - some people love plants, and for them, it'd be an excellent gift... but for others, a gc would be way more useful.

I'm not a fan of indoor plants. if it was an outdoor plant I would be ok with that. If I was giving or recieving a house warming gift I wouldn't give/like that.

If they're into plants/gardening, then sure. One word of advice: if they have any pets, please be sure to steer clear of anything that might be toxic to their furbabies!
