Giving a plant as a gift...
Yay or Nay?
Personally, I say Nay... because I look at it as giving someone a gift that they now have to take care of which will give them more work. I don't want to give someone else more work!
I am also not a good plant person... I kill them. So essentially when someone gives me a plant as a gift, they are giving me something that I am going to murder! 
So because I don't like to receive plants as gifts... I will NEVER give them.
Not sure why I am asking this question... curious I guess. Although it came up as I was watering the plant I got as a gift (the plant that gets watered when I see it wilting because I have enough to deal with and am not good with plants!) 
ETA: Just wanted to clarify that I am not talking about giving a plant as a Christmas gift... more like housewarming or other occasions.

No for me. I am exactly the same way, I kill plants I guess I don't know how to take care of them . I am not a "plant person"

I say it depends on the person. My grandmother loves plants and loves to get them as a gift.
Me on the otherhand, feel bad for the plants that come into my house.....they are goners!

Me personally, I wouldn't want a plant as a gift. I would never think to give one as a Christmas gift. I gave a plant once to someone as a housewarming gift, but that was bc I was low on cash and didn't have time to really shop for a gift.

My mom really likes to get plants. I feel guilty becuase I know the poor plant will not live long

ITA. For your average person, I would never even think of giving a plant. But for my mom, who LOVES gardening, she'd be thrilled, so I would.
