And the saga continues...

I suppose this is what we get for buying a short sale!!

To give a little background about the family that was living in the house - husband and wife and two adult daughters. The couple divorced and husband, who was also a contractor, moved out about a year ago. He stopped helping out with the mortgage, the wife couldn’t afford it, the house went into total disrepair.

Wife let her two adult daughters live there with their drug-dealer boyfriends in the house, with two dogs and god-knows how many cats. The neighbors we’ve met, who are all really nice, tell us that the police were often at that house, numerous arrests, the dogs wandered the neighborhood, etc… mind you, this is a very affluent, well-to-do neighborhood, so this is very atypical for the area.

So when we were negotiating on the house, we rarely interfaced with the husband and wife because our offer was below what they owed on the mortgage, so we were mostly negotiating with the bank to accept an offer below what they owed on the mortgage. The husband and wife did, though, have to sign all the papers.

The husband was a PIECE OF WORK. He went into the house, several times, after the agreement of sale was signed listing all the items that were to be left in the house, like all brand new bosch appliances and washer/dryer, and took THEM ALL. This was another reason why I was LIVID at the listing agent, because she basically told us, tough, he’s going in and taking it. I raised hell, arguing that the agreement of sale is a binding contract, and that if they were going to remove any items, they would have to reimburse us. Needless to say, at closing, the listing agent gave us a check for the value of all the appliances, out of her own pocket, which she was not too thrilled about. Apparently, also, the husband blackmailed the listing agent, and told her he wouldn’t sign the papers unless she paid for his attorney fees. She wanted her commission out of this deal, so she paid him off.

So, long story short – we were working on the house yesterday. I left early to get the girls while DH wrapped things up. He was upstairs when he heard someone just walk right into the house, and start walking around. DH came down and this man was there, demanding to know who DH was. DH looked at him and was like, this is my house, why don’t you tell me who YOU are. Apparently it was the husband. A big, fat, overweight creep who REEKED of alcohol.

This guy starts walking all around the house, scoping it out. DH got the sense that he was trying to see what else he could swipe from the house. Then the guy points to this small TV in the living room, and tells DH that he had installed a camera in the back yard which fed into the TV in the living room, and that, on the weekends he would just sit in the living room and watch as his teenage daughters and their friends played in the pool in their skimpy bikinis.

YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We told the neighbors to keep an eye out for this guy and if they EVER see his truck at the house to call the police. If he ever dares to show up again, I’m calling 911, and getting a restraining order. It makes me nervous that he felt entitled to just waltz into the house acting as if he still owns it!
