Those that bring DC to a babysitter...

Do you ever worry that your DC will start to think that the babysitter is their mom or start liking her more than you? Ok, I'm paranoid Chat Icon I was home with DD for 6 weeks and just went back to work full time last week. I love and trust the babysitter (I've known her for years) but I'm just thinking that since she spend so much of her day with her maybe she will start not wanting to come home with me....

Please tell me I'm overthinking this and I should just go back to work Chat Icon

Re: Those that bring DC to a babysitter...

I worried about that too. I was home with DD for 8 weeks and she's been with the sitter since then (she's 6 months now).
DD LOVES her sitter. But, she knows I'm her mommy. She lights up when we get to the sitter in the Am and then she lights up when I or DH pick her up. I don't think she thinks the sitter is her mom, she just knows she goes there during the day and has fun and is taken care of.
It's totally normal mommy guilt you are feeling. But, our DC will always know their mommy. I know it's tough, but we have to remember, we work because we have to, to provide what we can for our DC.

You are overthinking itChat Icon

DD will be so happy to see her Mommy at the end of the day!

DS goes to sitter 3 full days per week.....the older he's gotten, the better it is when I pick him up!!!

He runs ful speed ahead yelling "Mommy's here!!!!!" with this HUGE smile, tackles me with hugs & kisses.....askes me 40 questions, then proceeeds to tell me he wants to stay & play with "Neen"!!! I know he knows I'm his mommy with the hugs 7 kissses I get!!!

Enjoy the one on one attention she will get and know she is being cared for like you would because I know that's how I feel about our sitter!!!

Do not worry. DC always knows who mommy is. We have a babysitter that the boys adore but they are always very happy to see and be with mommy and daddy.

I have the same fears. DD is 4 months and goes to daycare full time since last month. I get paranoid that she wont know im her mom since i'm not around her very much during the week...only for an hour in the morning and about 2 hours in the evening before she falls asleep :( sad

DS goes to daycare but, he usually lights up with a smile when I come to pick him up Chat Icon

He also has a big smile when I drop him off which makes me feel better about leaving him - he loves it there.

Kids always knows who their parents are. They are the people who have no control over what they (DC's) do.

As a former daycare provider I can tell you, no one can replace mommy and daddy!!! Sure they grow to love their providers and teachers, they have fun each day and make friends but when they are sick, cranky, or get a boo no one but mommy will do. They look forward to each day when they pick up time is coming because they can't wait to go home with their mommy or daddys. You have nothing to worry about, your child knows who you are nothing can change that!!
