I went to Venice, Florence , Rome and Positano (on the almafi coast) for my HM. Depends what you are looking for. If you want to sit on the beach and soak up the sun than I say the coast. If you are interested in some serious sight seeing & major culture, than I would go to Rome, Florence (hello vineyards!!!) and Venice!!!!

Re: Calling all EUROlovers!! I have a chance to go to Monaco...
First, I want to work for your company!!
I say Venice, maybe a day trip to Verona from there! I love love love Venice. I always recommend Sorrento too but during this season it may be a bit quiet so I wouldn't go now. Rome is also always on the top of my list. Definitely just focus on one area if you're only there for a few days and take it all in. All the local towns and off the beaten path places. Also, I've been to Milan in October and had an amazing time! Il Duomo is spectacular and definitely have some risotto while you're there!
Enjoy!!

hahaha oh lord you are def right!!! Ok than my personal opinion, Venice is on the water & is surrounded by water. I think it will be freezing and the town will be kinda dead. I would check on some traveling websites. My personal opinion was that they didnt have much of a night life there. That would leave Florence & Rome. If I were in your shoes, I would def go to both! You can get on the rail from Florence & take it into Rome......VERY easy.

Re: Calling all EUROlovers!! I have a chance to go to Monaco...
Monaco is very close to Lombary and the Piedmont..
you could stay north and go to San Remo (awesome festival) Milano, Torino, Genoa, the Liguria, the lake district (como, maggiore)
it's so beautiful in the north and you won't kill yourself with travel.
when would you go? my favorite time to be in italy is for the holidays. it's so gorgeous.
ETA: it is the slow season..not many tourists. Milan has a pretty decent nightlife but honestly, I would save the partying for Monaco.
most of the time we are so tired from the day that we have no energy to party too hard anyway.
and mrs. fashionista, you will LOOOOOVVVVEEEE Milano. LOVE it.
ETA: keep in mind that Monaco is basically within the south of france, and you can also go to Nice and Cannes, which probably have a great night life too.
I am actually going there in a few weeks, I'll report back if Luce lets me go anyplace fun after dark
further ETA: if you do go to Milan, taking a day trip to Venice of Florence shouldn't be too bad. I've taken the train from Milan to Venice a few times and it's about a 3 hour ride...just enough for a nice nap.
and while the tourists don't see much of a night life in Venice, make friends with some locals and they'll take you to the spots (though admittedly I did this on a trip w/o the bomb )

how many days prior do you want to go? and what day is your office party on?
you could fly in to CDG, but Paris is a good 5 hour or longer train ride from Monaco, but Paris is where the Louvre is so if you want to go there, CDG it is!
you have a few options. you could opt to land IN Italy (milan is mxp airport code haha) and fly OUT of Paris.
so then you would land in Milano, take a few days in Italy.
take the train from Milano to Monaco (it's not that far or expensive...4-5 hours) attend your party.
take the train from Monaco (or Nice or Cannes or wherever) to Paris. spend a few days there. then fly home out of CDG

Re: Calling all EUROlovers!! I have a chance to go to Monaco...
I didn't read everything Ophelia said but I agree with her as far as Lombardy and Piedmont. I would imagine it would be more temperate as far as the weather at that time of year. But then again, Milan is a fabulous city! However, you could get some snow in Milan, usually just a dusting but they had a freakish winter not long ago. Hell, I would go to Milan in a blizzard, LOL!!! Come to think of it Genoa had an incredible amount of snow which is really unheard of!
And I thought I was lucky at my job; they only fly us to FLA occassionally, lol!

we want to fly either sat night or Sun night..party is on Fri night, but Thurs night also a small cocktail party...
maybe possibly flying INTO Rome-hitting it up over there, then going to Paris-then to Monaco?
I'm still not sure..gotta check logistics!
as far as activities..id like to see the collisseum or go on a gondola ride..i def wanna see le louvre...
ahh i still have 2 months to decide! lol

I definitely agree with Milano and Genova (my family is from there). Genova is only 90 minutes from Milano by train.

Monaco is amazing! Enjoy! There are some beautiful and quaint French villages nearby if you don't want to travel far... check out Eze, Grasse, Saint Jean Cap Ferrat.
