Hope someone can help me: Getting in an accident with a NYC employee
In July I was hit from behind in the HOV lane by a NYFD EMT chief (who was by himself in his car ) The car was a NYFD car so I had to go through the NYC Comptroller. We filed a claim and sent it certified mail, which is what I was told to do. You have 90 days to file a claim, I did it in about 30. Does anyone know how long it takes to hear from someone? They have no info on their website except what forms to fill out. They also now have an e-file option which must be new since they didn't have it when I first got the paperwork. I'm wondering if I should e-file also My DH is getting mad that our truck still isn't fixed but I'm not shelling out the money and getting s crewed over The truck is drivable, the back bumper is just all jacked up. Thanks so much for any help

If it's the city I would say it would take months
There is no contact number to call?

Sorry, I don't have an answer. Since you are no fault, why not let your insurance company take care of it?

Agreed. I'd call your insurance and explain the situation and make them fight with his insurance.

I reported the accident right away but we don't have collision on the truck so my ins says I have to wait for the city.

Um...i hate to say this but it can be years.
about 2 years ago my MIL was hit by a city worker..i forget what agency, but he was driving a city truck. (DOT maybe). He ran a light and hit my MIL while she was coming through a stop sign.
She had some damage to her front right side. She paid out of pocket to fix it and is still waiting to get reimbursed from the city.
I think it will be YEARS before you see anything.

Unfortunately with the city you may be waiting quite a while. Besides the 8 million steps they have to take to process everything, it's the city so everything seems to move at a snails pace
Good luck!

Also be careful with how much time they have to respond. I drove over one of those steel plates they put in the road on the Cross Bronx a few years ago. It literally separated the lip of the wheel from the rest of it. I filed the claim, and called every few months, being told they were waiting on reports. After a year they told me my claim expired and I couldn't make a new one. I was SOL.

I would follow up ASAP. I'm not sure about the e-file as the double entries may slow your claim down.
But it may be quite a while for you to hear from someone. If you get a contact in the Comptroller's office then always ask to speak to the same person. (That way they kind of get to know you and such).

My parked car was hit by a NYPD tow truck and I was paid within 90 days but Geico handled the claim.
