No but everyone else did When i was pg w ds i was due around the superbowl. Dh said " omg, what if you go into labor during the game? " well i guess you will miss it. Then ds first birthday was last year when the Jets were ona huge roll. I got about 20 phone calls to ask will the game be on during the party. Then when it was time for cake i had to wait for a freaking commercial.

I never even thought about it, although I am sure DH kept it in mind being a HUGE Yankees and Giants fan. As it turns out, we got married on November 7, 2009...2 days AFTER the Yankees won the World Series. As a consequence, DH insisted that we enter our reception to the Jay-Z song, "Empire State of Mind" specifically as he is rapping about the Yankees. DH wore a World Series Championship T-shirt. It was quite a hit.

i could understand not doing something super bowl sunday or trying to avoid the world series
but to say who plans something on a sunday during footbal season is ridiculous so i should wait for my child to be 9 months old to christen so you don't miss a game, my feeling is then just don't come to my party

My DH talks about this all the time. I sometimes joke around and say I hope when we have a baby it is born around superbowl time or the world series. LOL

we were married in October and it didn't really play a factor. We're big Mets fans - so it really didn't play a factor

The Yankees were in the playoffs that year but they had already been eliminated. We had discussed having the DJ provide score updates had the Yankees still been in. Out of the kindness of our hearts

We left for our honeymoon on a Sunday. I am a die-hard Jet fan. Ironically enough, it was bye week. I didn't plan it that way, but it was a nice perk

We were still on our honeymoon the next Sunday and we went to a ESPN Zone for lunch so I could see the game.

My extended family is huge into baseball, football and hockey, so we do give crap when someone plans something on a Sunday. But, most times, it's a christening and you can't help it because that's usually when christenings are. Since we all do watch the games, there's ALWAYS a TV wherever we go.

My one cousin intentionally planned his daughter's christening on the Colts' bye week.

And we all do fantasy football together, so everyone's checking cell phones as well.

We have a christening coming up for a friend and we lucked out again that it's the bye week.

I would never NOT go to a party because of a sporting event. But, if there's a TV, I'm gravitating toward it, or checking my cell, or DVRing the game to watch later

i don't think i'd plan anything if i knew when superbowl sunday was because it seems like everyone does something on that day, regardless of if your a sports fan or not.

however, i would not not plan any major party around any sports schedules because it's just not that important to me and i'd hope that other people could get over it. (unless the mets happened to be in the world series.. that i couldn't miss!.. but i think i'm safe for a while )

i guess it depends on the 'importance' of a party as well to me. i've been to parties where a tv was on at the bar for updates.. which i think is nice for some people as long as they don't spend the entire time glued to it

I do now. I had my graduation party during a Mets-Yankees game. I'm afraid it'll be interleague play again for my wedding, but I don't know. At any rate there are no TVs at my hall so people will have to deal.

Ugh, don't remind me... my bridal shower was on the same day as the superbowl. I hoped the Jets wouldn't make it! My DH is a huge Jets fan. I told him "oh well"
