Help with mail, bills and catalog clutter!

No matter how hard I try, my kitchen table is constantly cluttered with catalogs, bills, and other mail! It drives me insane!

What do you do with your mail?
How do you organize your bills? Filing cabinet?
Where do you store catalogs, magazines that you want to look through (eventually)?
AND what about coupons?


PLEASE HELP! The clutter is taking over!!!!

What do you do with your mail?

Open and throw out junk mail right away. It really only takes 5 minutes to open and go through - so I make piles. garbage, bills and read. Bills go on a magnetic clip on our refrigerator, garbage goes straight to the garbage or shredder and read goes into a canvas box.


How do you organize your bills? Filing cabinet?
I have a file cabinet and an accordion file. First the bills go into the accordion file - all bank statements together, all CC, etc just to get them out of the way - it's easy and slips under my buffet.

Once every few months I transfer it to the file cabinet in specific folders.


Where do you store catalogs, magazines that you want to look through (eventually)?

In the bathroom I have a metal basket and I throw them in there. It works though.


AND what about coupons?

I'm not great about coupons from the sunday paper. I do have a small accordion file for them that I try to keep in my reusable bags. Other coupons (restaurants, BBB, etc) go in a folder that I have sticking between my cookbooks on a shelf in my kitchen. I have another folder next to it that has restaurant/take out menus

What do you do with your mail?

I shred everything and put it in the recycling bin right away

How do you organize your bills?

I do everything online. I canreprint statements if I need to. And I do everything through Quicken which makes it very easy to keep track of when bills are due


Where do you store catalogs, magazines that you want to look through (eventually)?

I keep one or 2 on the coffee table and throw it out when I am done

AND what about coupons?

I keep only the ones I know I'm going to use in one of the kitchen cabinets.
(weird maybe but they are out of sight but I know where they are)

we got this to put in the kitchen to hold keys, cell phones, and mail.

coupons go in a cute, little lidded basket in our dining room. the rest we just try to open and throw away immediately, but i know all about how it piles up.
