absolutely yes. although we overlooked that one of the triple crown races was on our wedding day. oops...
my dh actually wants to make sure we DONT have a baby in the month of march, because of march madness and fantasy baseball drafts

We thought about it and got married in September because of it. Though people still complained because it was Labor Day Weekend.
Bottom line is that you can never please everyone!

Nothing coincided with our wedding, but I wouldn't plan something on a date like Super Bowl, etc. Too many of our guy friends would be pisssed and people wouldn't come!

My daughter's christening fell on a BIG football sunday right before Superbowl. It was either the jets/giants playing.  not sure which one.
I booked a place with an attached bar and flat screen tvs.
Everyone had a great time, hung at the bar and watched the game.
Whats better than watching the game with friends/family where the beer and appys are free 
I made sure it was like that because I didnt want all the husbands looking miserable or dissapearing in the middle of the party.

No. But then, we were planning a summer wedding, so there weren't many big sporting events to consider. Had we been planning in January, we probably would've tried to avoid the Superbowl.

We try! As a few AP said though, there is always going to be something 
DS1s Bris happened to fall on home opening day for the Jets that year. There were a LOT of very unhappy men at the Bris who had to give up their tickets that day to come. Oh well! It isn't like you actually PLAN when a Bris is!

not once.
DH is a hockey and baseball fan. And I don't think he's ever mentioned that a game would interfer with the party.
I did, however, have DD #1 baptism on the last day of the US Open (golf) so a lot of golfers in my family were watching it inside. Not an awful thing, it was a rainy day anyway.

We did take that into consideration- honestly we did.
But more importantly since we wanted a particular clergy we were more aware of any major holidays that might prevent that clergy from marrying us on the date we wanted.

ITA. I stayed away from Thanksgiving weekend for my November wedding because I know it's more expensive for people to travel from out of town for it, not necessarily just because it was Thanksgiving weekend.
I would probably avoid Superbowl sunday, but other than that, I figure if my big event is not worth missing the World Series for, then don't come.

If I did schedule my wedding during an event i would expect it to take precedence over any sporting event..
The reason i chose to schedule in the summer is because "I" wouldnt want to miss those games not because i am concerned about my guests missing it...

Big events, like the Super Bowl, World Series, Final Four, etc yes - but regular season games, no. DH and I got married on a day where the Jets played the Giants, we are both big football fans and didn't think twice

Yes I take it into consideration. I'm not a sports fan but the bottom line is I'm having an event that I want people to attend....and I'd like them to enjoy themselves versus being jammed in at the bar trying to catch a score.

I got married the day after July 4th. I'm sure people hemmed & hawed about it, but at least they still had the evening, and Sunday off.
My friend wanted to get married in October and her DH is a HUUUUGE Yankee's fan. He assumed they would be in the world series, so he made a big stink that the date should be moved to November. The Yanks didn't even make it into the playoff's that year

The only date in June I had, to avoid Father's Day, happened to be my brother in law's 40th birthday. Oops.
I had no idea, until after we had already booked the major stuff. I don't think that would have stopped me anyway and he was cool about it.
The only other reason why we plan things around Super Bowl is because DH's birthday is February 5th and it has fallen on the same day in the past.
Other than that... nope.

DS's birthday is February 8. I already know that I am not going to have his birthday party on Superbowl Sunday. Too many people have plans that day so I would rather pick another day.

The only one I would have considered was Super Bowl but I didn't want to get married in winter so it wasn't an issue. We did get married during baseball playoffs and we are big baseball fans. I wasn't going to change my October wedding for baseball though.

completely....we totally did. we actually planned for november after MLB playoffs, but fell into our day. Since it was mid-baseball season and there was no important game we went with it. I didn't want sports taking away from our special day!

Agreed, though I am not a huge sports fan. I'd be ****** if someone missed my once in a lifetime event for a sports game!! Really shows how important you are to them... if watching a game is that important, then tape it and watch it later.
