A co-worker of mine just had a baby...

Barry

yes, it's a girl... her last name ends in "-berg" and she's not Jewish so...

I hope she realizes most people that see the name are going to assume her DD is a Jewish male.
My DH said her DD sounds like a Jewish male accountantChat Icon

I've had situations like that with people who go by Sam and Chris professionally.

Re: Gender Neutral Names

My DD's name is Peyton.

I had to go to her new school to meet the teacher prior to school starting and she said we can't wait to meet him.

I said oh Peyton is a she....lol

I still love it and I loved the name Ryan for a girl but I would have spelled it Ryann..

I had a male student named Shannon. He was a twin, and his brother Kimarley went by Kim.

For us, I'm not a fan of boys names for girls. Our last name is long and tough to spell; I don't want to add more confusion to the mix!

I might give a female child a slightly ambiguous name, but never a son. I want him to have a nice, sturdy male name.

Yup, we named our son Mason. So far it's only boys that have that name.

I like the gender neutral for girls. It's cute

erica, what's funny is the only masons i knew before you were girls! they were both from the south and i knew them in collegeChat Icon i consider mason to be a male name though.

*******
this is exactly why i named my kids clearly male and female names that are spelled the traditional way.

Re: Gender Neutral Names

My DH and I both have gender neutral names: Leslie (me) and Jaime (the Spanish version of James). You could imagine how much fun that was while planning a wedding - I was repeatedly asked which one was the bride to be!

DS is Dylan. If he was a girl, we were considering the same name but spelled differently (Dillon).

I've never met a male Kendall. Is it a male name more often?

I went to college with a boy named Kendall. I also knew a girl named Jimmy. Okay, I'm kidding about the latter.

ETA: DH and I were strongly considering Reagan for a DD's name, but people kept saying it sounded like a boy's name... I thought that was odd.

Re: Gender Neutral Names

I work with a girl named Ryan.

I was considering it for DD #2, but decided not to.

She told me that she goes through hell sometimes when people expect her ot be a boy.
