How many women had uncontrollable shaking after a c-section?

Almost everyone I speak to told me they had that with TMJ to follow from grinding their teeth.

I was just wondering if all women had that?

Thanks

Re: How many women had uncontrollable shaking after a c-section?

I had uncontrollable shaking during my c-section and it lasted for a while afterwards too. I was becoming achy all over just from shaking so much. But I didn't have any problems with lockjaw or anything. Dr.'s said it was a common reaction to the spinal.

We haven't had our LO yet but in our childbirth class they said that shaking after you deliver is normal- for vaginal and c-sections

Re: How many women had uncontrollable shaking after a c-section?

I was shaking uncontrollably throughout labor.
The nurse said it happens during transition phases and has nothign to do with the epi.

I also shook a bit after delivering- and I had a v-birth.
I think it's normal after any kind of delivery- vaginal or C

Re: How many women had uncontrollable shaking after a c-section?

I was uncontrollably shaking right before my c-section (I was in early labor, baby was breech). I think it was nervousness b/c it started right after I was checked and told I was having my c-section unexpectedly early. I had no meds then. I continued to shake throughout and for about an hour after. That may have been related to the spinal, I don't know. I didn't have TMJ though and I do have a general teeth grinding issue.

This is true - I'll tell you my experience.

I had a c-section with DS in 2008. I started shaking uncontrollably halfway through the surgery. IT lasted for several hours - it was so bad I could not even hold DS in recovery! I had a spinal with my C.

In March of 2010 I had a VBAC. I started shaking uncontrollably several hours into labor (after I got the epi, but a while after, so I don't think they were related). It didn't last as long, and was on an off for a few hours. By the time I delivered DD it was gone.

So I had it both times. It was annoying more than anything.

Re: How many women had uncontrollable shaking after a c-section?

I was shaking during my c-sec but as soon as it was over my shaking was done. My teeth were chattering during my shaking but nothing too crazy.

I had it immediately after, while I was in recovery, but it went away after an hour or so.

I don't recall shaking at all with either of my c-sections...

Although I was placed under an inflatable heated "blanket" in recovery for a couple of hours after my 2nd. My temp was pretty low.

Re: How many women had uncontrollable shaking after a c-section?

I started shaking pretty much after my water broke lol almost as if i had the chills- then I got the epi and just the top half of my body had the shakes. During the actual C- only my arms were shaking/flapping - guess it was just nerves- nothing after thoughChat Icon

Re: How many women had uncontrollable shaking after a c-section?

i had minor shaking/chills while in labor - nurse said it was hormones. after my emergency c-section i had about 4 hours of uncontrollable shaking and teeth chattering. docs said it was from the epi. my dad once had an epi (obviously not for childbirth, haha) and he had the same reaction. not everyone reacts that way. btw they didn't bring me back my baby until 6 hours after my c-section so by that time the shaking was over, the numbness was wearing off and i was on pain meds & ready to see him Chat Icon

Could be the anesthesia but also it's sometimes just from your hormones. I went natural with my 2nd and still had the shakes immediately after delivery.
